See if you can talk to the coach, and find out what skills he's looking for in a player. And of course, practice as much as you can on your own, or with your friends!! Don't be afraid to try out for the team - you'll never know how good you are until you try!

I think you should just be yourself! If you're a sporty girl, be proud of it!! Just ignore the rumors, and be honest with everyone, so that they know they can trust you!

When you practice at home, try to to get a crowd to watch you (your family, or some friends), so that you're used to playing in front of an audience. When you have the tryout at school, take deep breaths, relax, and smile. When you smile, you feel more confident, and when you feel confident, I think you'll make that basket with no problem!!

Get organized (like my buddy Katani)! Make a chart, and be sure to schedule time for doing homework along with your sports!

You could try to show how responsible you are by doing some regular chores around the house (like doing this dishes, taking out the trash, helping with the laundry, etc.). If you show your parents you can handle these tasks, they might think you're ready for a pet!

Try talking to your parents - do they think you can handle the commitment? If you don't want to make that much of a commitment to soccer, that's okay!! You should have time to just hang out and just be a kid!

Do you have any friends who play sports? Ask them what their fave sport is -- if you have a friend to play with, it always makes it a lot more fun!!
