You can explore the town, visit shops, and use virtual money and points to get cool stuff to put in your locker. Your locker looks different because now it has special shelves and spaces for you to put your virtual goodies—and show them off! Cool! How do I get into the virtual world? Find the words LOCKER, SCHOOL, and TOWN at the top of your screen. Click on TOWN to access all the shops that the Beacon Street Girls love, like Think Pink, Irving's Toy & Card Shop, and Party Favors! Plus, visit the Bank to find out more about Marty$Money and Happy Lucky Points. SCHOOL will take you to clubs and teams, and LOCKER brings you back to your own page. What are Marty$Money and Happy Lucky Points? So glad you asked! Marty$Money is the virtual currency of BeaconStreetGirls.com. You can either buy Marty$Money using real money or hunt for special codes in the backs of specially marked books that you can redeem for Marty$Money. Happy Lucky Points are free, but you have to earn them by having FUN in all the areas of BeaconStreetGirls.com. You can use both Marty$Money and Happy Lucky Points to buy the virtual goodies in the Town. Read more information about Marty$Money and Happy Lucky Points. What kinds of stuff can I buy? Tons! You can shop for fabulous clothes, cuddly animals, yummy food, pretty flowers, glamorous makeup, and more. Explore each of our shops in the Beacon Street Girls Town for virtual goodies, monthly specials, rare items, and the latest stuff to hit the BSG shelves. What are monthly goods and specials? Some items are available for only a limited time, or only a certain number will be sold on a first-come first-served basis. In addition, some items are available only for Marty$Money. So make sure you check back often and don’t miss out on any super special deals! Where does my stuff go when I buy it? Everything you purchase goes into your locker (or your friend’s locker if you send a gift). If you want to put items away, move them to the storage bin by clicking “storage” under the placement options. Click the green bar at the very bottom of your locker to open the storage bin and see all the items you have bought. How do I move stuff around inside my locker? Let’s say you bought a pair of shoes. Click on the shoes, then play with the sliders on the menu that appears. You can change the color, size, or rotation. You can also put the shoes on the front door, back door, shelves, or in storage. Use the pointing hands at the top of your locker to open and close the door. You can edit or move your items at any time! II. The ALL-NEW Club BSG What can I do on the all-new BeaconStreetGirls.com? Tons! You get to have a locker that’s YOURS with a personal page inside! You can friend other Club BSGers and check out their lockers and profiles. Plus, you can join fabulous Clubs and Teams where you can talk about what interests YOU, and meet up with other girls who are interested in the same things you are. Get started! How do I get a locker? If you have already registered in Club BSG an have a username and password, enter them in the login box. If you do not remember your username or password, click on “Lost Username or Password?” If you have not registered in Club BSG, register now to join the fun! You’ll be able to choose your locker’s number—one or two letters followed by one to four numbers. For example, Charlotte’s locker number is CR0405. Every locker number is unique, so you’ll get a message if someone else has already picked that locker number. Then, you can decorate both the inside and the outside of your locker! You’ll also get to pick your wallpaper, avatar, and personal banner! When you are online in Club BSG, you'll see a mini flower in the bottom left-hand corner of your avatar. Check your friends list to see who is online! If I am registering for Club BSG for the first time, what should I pick as my username? All usernames are checked by adult monitors at Club BSG headquarters before becoming visible on BeaconStreetGirls.com. But, we don't let that slow down the fun! Until your username is reviewed, only YOU will be able to see it. Other Club BSGers will instead see the locker number that you chose when you send friend requests and post in Clubs and on Whiteboards. To make sure your locker number is replaced by your username as soon as possible, make sure your username is appropriate and acceptable for our site. What is the difference between an appropriate username and an inappropriate username? Here is a guide for what is considered unacceptable in a username. If your username is considered unacceptable by our monitors, your locker number will appear instead of your username. 1. First and last names 2. Email addresses 3. Zip codes 4. Phone numbers 5. School names 6. Cities 7. Profanity and/or vulgarity (swear words and other inappropriate terms such as "hottie" are not allowed). 8. First and last names of celebrities without numbers or another word attached are not allowed (for example, "Miley Cyrus" is not an acceptable username, while "MileyCyrusFan123" is acceptable). How do I change my username? If you still see your locker number instead of your username after 24 hours, this usually means your username was not accepted by our monitors. In that case, you have two options... (a) When logged into your account, you can unregister from the site and re-register using the same email address, but different username (note that if you unregister, you will lose your locker design, profile information, and friends). (b) You can contact us and request to change your username (don't forget to include the email address with which you registered as well as your old username and the new username you have chosen). How do I fill out my profile? After you have created your locker, you’ll see a list of questions all about YOU. Enter your favorite color, type of music, activity, animal, and more! Once your profile is filled out, you’ll see your answers on your page! And, if you ever want to change your answers, you can update your profile at any time. Only Club BSGers who you have agreed to be friends with can see your profile. No one can see your profile without being your friend. How do I get friends on BeaconStreetGirls.com? In Club BSG, being “friends” on BeaconStreetGirls.com means that you can see each other’s profiles and communicate through Hall Talk in the Clubs and Teams. But, it’s totally safe—all communication between Club BSG members is reviewed by adult monitors before it is published on the site, and we don’t allow any private information to be shared. To get friends on BeaconStreetGirls.com, you must either send or receive a friend request. To send a friend request, click on your future friend's avatar (the picture next to her username). This will take you to a page that will allow you to send a friend request. You can also find a friend using the “Find Your Friends” search box in the top right-hand area of the screen. In that search box, enter the usernames of the Club BSGers you want to friend. When you’ve entered a valid username, you’ll see a link to click that will send her a friend request. To accept a friend request, look at your "Newest Friends" box in your profile. If you have friend requests waiting to be read, click to access the requests and click "Accept." If you don’t feel comfortable accepting a new friend request, no problem! Simply click “Decline,” and that person will NOT be able to see your profile. Remember—you can remove friends from your list at any time. How do I post on my friends' Whiteboards? Each personal page has a Whiteboard that you can leave a message on for your friend. You may select from a pre-written list of messages and send your message immediately, or you may type in your own message. All typed messages will be reviewed by adult monitors before they are posted. That message will only appear on your friend’s personal page, and all of her friends will be able to see it, too. Will I be asked to put any personally identifying information in my profile? No. Our top priority is the safety and privacy of our members. Filling out your profile does not require you to tell us your first and last names, address, phone number, or any other private information. To log in to BeaconStreetGirls.com, you will need to type in your username and password, but only your username will be visible to others—your email address and password will NOT be shown. Club BSG will not share your email address with anyone else and will never ask you for your password. It’s important that you do not share your password with anyone. What are the Clubs and Teams? The Clubs and Teams are great places to make friends and read all about the things that interest you. For example, if you LOVE to act on stage, you can join the Drama Club to read articles about drama and theater and to post comments in Hall Talk. There are 25 different Clubs and Teams for you to join—all with fun activities, need-to-know info, and other girls who are just like YOU. How do I post messages in Hall Talk? Hall Talk is the spot in each Club and Team where you get to post comments and messages to other members of the Club or Team. After each article, you’ll see a box where you can leave comments. Each comment will be read and reviewed by a live monitor before getting posted (so there might be a short delay before you see your comment). Remember—you must be logged in as a Club BSG member before posting comments! What are the rules about posting comments in Hall Talk and on Whiteboards?
