Queens of Mean

It's Katani. Dealing with QOM (that's short for Queens of Mean) can be a hassle, and EVERY school has them. Right now you can probably think of at least one girl you know who fits the QOM description, am I right? Abigail Adams Junior High has Anna and Joline as reigning QOM, that's for sure.

But you know what? There are lots of ways you can try to get along with—and maybe even become FRIENDS with—the QOM at your school. I know what you're thinking: "Is she kidding?" Girl, I am not. And to prove it, here is a Kgirl list of four ways to deal with those mean girls.

Do the things you love to do. Don't let the QOM (or anyone else!) convince you that your interest in, say, table tennis isn't cool. That's what makes you unique!

Keep some perspective. Remember that QOM put other people down because they might actually feel bad about themselves. Makes you feel a little better to look at it that way, right?

Don't participate in gossip. This might seem obvious, but just like you don't deserve to be gossiped about, other girls don't either. And that includes the QOM.

Talk to a trusted adult. Your mom, your grandma, a teacher—anyone you usually go to for good advice can help you out here.

QOM? Run away screaming is my advice! Just kidding. Whatever u do, don't let those nuts get 2 u. My real advice? Fight fire with smiles. Like, once this QOM said, all snarky, "Oooh, nice skirt! U can't even get me to stop about the QOM at my school. We call them Poptarts(girls) and Gotarts(boys, though ther aren't 2 many of them). They think they're all that because they have beach houses, cell phones, boyfriends, can wear make-up, and be snobby and all that. i ignore them but seriously,like half of the girl population in 7th grade are QOM! they have 3 leaders then like a zillion tools(hope u know what that is). I don't try 2 be like them because i'd never want 2 be like them. Always be yourself and try not to like QOM comments get to u!

Well, I'll usually say something sarcastic like "That's cool!" or "OMG! I didn't know that!" They usually look at me like I'm crazy. If the insult was really bad, I'd say "If that was a good insult, I'd be offended." Then I walk away and pretent nothing happened.

They probably have something in their life that isn't very good, so they take it out on others. I HATE QOM, and there are soooo many in my school, like it's not even funny! Honestly, I try to tell them that I don't like what they are doing, but it always comes out as some amzing comeback that usually makes them even more mad. So I'm not very good at dealing with QOM. But if you have enough confidence, try to stick up for whoever they're making fun of, whether it's you or some other person. Even if the victim is one of your worst enemies, stick up for them! The QOM in my class is convincing me that I am a nerd. She makes fun of me for not keeping up with the "latest trends" so I just try to laugh it off. She even pantsed me to be oboxius so I told my mom and my mom told the vice principal. If it's something this serious, always contact an adult or parent.

Is there something worse than having a QOM in your school? Well yes, they're friends. They always have a possy or gang, a place where they can spread the rummors.
To tell you the truth, that's what happens in my school! At first they act nice and sweet like little angels in front of the teacher, but when your alone, thats where the trouble comes.
They treat you like a piece of garbege. "Go tell this person,"
"Your such a baby!" The terror never stops, so you have to do something. I solved my problem by telling the teacher. That's SAFE!

Well, Katani, I have a best friend and we hang out with each other a lot. But whenever she gets near some of her friends, which aren't mine, she ignores me, and so do her friends, the Queens of Mean. Whenever I try to walk with them and have a conversation, they just ignore me and act like I'm not there. When I start to talk, my best friend elbows me and just pushes me out of the way, so I get embarassed. So I just ignore them and walk away. I've done this several times, and now my best friend, or the Queens of Mean talk to me. But I don't care. I mean, who wants a friend that avoids them and act like they don't even exist. To me, this is the best choice.

i try to have as much fun as i can with my gfriends. the QOM are only friends because they are to "cool", and "perfect", and "gorgeous" for any normal people. so when they se me and my friends having a blast rite in front of their nose they gat jealeous. i no that making people feel sad isnt a very good thing to do, but when they gat mad or whtever, it means 1 less snide comment from them to me and my friends!
