Queens of Mean

It's Katani. Dealing with QOM (that's short for Queens of Mean) can be a hassle, and EVERY school has them. Right now you can probably think of at least one girl you know who fits the QOM description, am I right? Abigail Adams Junior High has Anna and Joline as reigning QOM, that's for sure.

But you know what? There are lots of ways you can try to get along with—and maybe even become FRIENDS with—the QOM at your school. I know what you're thinking: "Is she kidding?" Girl, I am not. And to prove it, here is a Kgirl list of four ways to deal with those mean girls.

Do the things you love to do. Don't let the QOM (or anyone else!) convince you that your interest in, say, table tennis isn't cool. That's what makes you unique!

Keep some perspective. Remember that QOM put other people down because they might actually feel bad about themselves. Makes you feel a little better to look at it that way, right?

Don't participate in gossip. This might seem obvious, but just like you don't deserve to be gossiped about, other girls don't either. And that includes the QOM.

Talk to a trusted adult. Your mom, your grandma, a teacher—anyone you usually go to for good advice can help you out here.

i would try and ignore them for as long as possible. try not to listen to their put-downs because they are only saying it to hurt your feelings and what they say is NOT TRUE! usually if you ignore them they will eventually stop! hope i was helpful!!!

They probably have something in their life that isn't very good, so they take it out on others. I HATE QOM, and there are soooo many in my school, like it's not even funny! Honestly, I try to tell them that I don't like what they are doing, but it always comes out as some amzing comeback that usually makes them even more mad. So I'm not very good at dealing with QOM. But if you have enough confidence, try to stick up for whoever they're making fun of, whether it's you or some other person. Even if the victim is one of your worst enemies, stick up for them! The QOM in my class is convincing me that I am a nerd. She makes fun of me for not keeping up with the "latest trends" so I just try to laugh it off. She even pantsed me to be oboxius so I told my mom and my mom told the vice principal. If it's something this serious, always contact an adult or parent.

1. Be ok with everything they say.. like "Your a loser" Just say "That's fine.. it's not like I worry about my hair 24/7"

2. Gossip is just a load of garbage! Who cares if Jen numbers her jeans? If the gossip bug tells everyone your weird. Tell them weird is a way of saying different so technically.. we're ALL weird. Anything else, tell them "So what? It's not true." If it is true.. admit it, who cares anyway? It's not their business.

3. Humiliation Nation! what to do? Speak up to them. "So? It's not like I care. I bet being a loser is ten times funner then being popular." They won't know what to say to THAT!

4. Relax. Worrying won't do you any good. Just lay back and have fun

5. Be yourself. No matter what people tell you, don't change yourself just to be in the "popular crowd".

6. Go where you want. If they appear in the same store as you, don't leave because they are there! Just ignore them and move on.

Remember, The popular can't stand seeing others happy, so don't let anything bring you down!

1. I try not to go to places that they usually hang out at.
2. The gossip they speak is usually just fake, they just do it to get attention or cause drama because they are bored.
3. If one of them is bothering you, tell a teacher, your parents, anyone who can help you about it, or give you advice. But remember, no strangers.
4. Sometimes, the QOM are just rude to others because they try to put you down, to put themselves up.
5. If you feel intimidated, don't. If they gang up on you, and start to taunt you. Don't back down, just because there are more of them, then you.
6. You may look at their clothes and all the make-up, and think they are pretty. Then you try to be one of them. Don't. Be yourself, and that's all you have to do.

at my school there is a girl named sarah, she is a real QOM. Usually my friends and I jst ignore her but once my friend tripped and wouldn't stop calling her a klutz. That really made me mad so I got a bunch of girls together and we decided that we wouldn't let ourselves be bossed around. at first it was only 5 or so but more and more people liked our idea and soon over half of the girls in our school were doing it. When Sarah saw that we could stand up for ourselves she stopped being a QOM.
