Embarrassing Moments!
In my 12 years of life in this world, I’ve had a klutzy moment… or two… or five. Being clumsy is a part of who I am so, I’ve mostly learned to just live with it. But, a few weeks ago, I was at a birthday party, and Nick was there, too. Nick and I are just friends, but sometimes I feel so nervous around him! I think Nick raises my clumsiness a few notches! I was walking across the room with a cup of soda when suddenly, I tripped over something (I have no idea what!), lunged forward, and spilled my soda all over Nick’s sweater! So embarrassing! Nick was totally cool about it, but STILL! My face turned all red, and I felt a little foolish. So, for all you girls who have ever felt embarrassed in front of a boy, read on for my advice—it comes from experience! Laugh it off—but don’t laugh too hard. When you do something like fall, stain your clothes, or say something dumb (which we ALL do) in front of your crush, then it’s a good idea to just laugh it off, admit your mistake, and move on. Like, say you fall off your chair in class and EVERYBODY turns to stare. Avery told me a great thing to say when you fall: “Hahaha—I do all my own stunts!” Then, sit back down and pretend like nothing happened. But, if you do something TO someone, like spill a drink on their sweater, or cause them to trip or stumble by accident, laughing it off won’t make this other person feel better. This is when you should apologize sincerely, and do what you can to help the situation. Stand by your friends. BSG Tower Rule #3 states: “We’ll be loyal to our friends and won’t lie to them even if they make a mistake or do something totally embarrassing.” Basically, if your friend has a mortifying moment in front of HER crush, help her. If people are laughing or pointing, say something like, “OK, the show’s over… thanks for coming!” Then, turn your attention to your friend, who will appreciate the save! Don’t follow the crowd. When someone falls, it’s pretty much guaranteed that people are going to laugh and snicker. But, imagine if YOU were the one who fell—would you want people laughing and snickering at you? Probably not. Just because everyone is chuckling and secretly relieved that it wasn’t THEM who fell, you don’t have to join the pack. Help the person in need, or simply walk away and be one less person who stares. you tell us ...
I've had MANY humiliating moments in front of crushes -- especially Nick. What's the most embarrassing thing that has happened to YOU in front of a crush?
