Well, some people are better than others at learning languages, but French could be easier for English-speaking people to learn than other languages because many of the words are the same (but pronounced differently) or very similar. Bonne chance! (Good luck!)

Unfortunately, you can't force someone to hang out with you, but you can make a point to talk to him more. You might create a different kind of friendship than he has with those other girls. But, don't try to change yourself to hang out with him. Maeve always tells me to "keep being you and the right boy will come along!"

Hi Charlotte, out of all the BSG, I am probably most like you. I love to write, travel, stargaze, and read, and I know what it's like to be "the new girl"... believe me! But I think I'm a lot like Maeve and Isabel too, actually, I think I'm like ALL of the BSG combined. How do you get over "writer's block?" and how do you deal with people who are jealous of you for getting good grades? I have those problems!

When I get writer's block, I like to get up and move around and do something else for a few minutes. Then, when I come back to whatever it is I'm doing, I have a fresh perspective!
As far as people being jealous of good grades, remember that doing well in school is NOTHING to be ashamed of, and don't let anyone make you feel differently.

First of all, keep reminding yourself that, yeah, it will be scary at first and you probably will make some mistakes, and you may even feel like a total outsider. But, all that is TEMPORARY. The best thing you can do is make it your goal to ADAPT. Realize that it's not going to be like your old school, so go in with an open mind.
About the language, you'll find that once you HAVE to use it to communicate, you learn much faster. Plus, many people speak English in Paris. Good luck!

Sure! When you visit a new country, it's important to read up on the culture, because sometimes, stuff that seems normal to us here in the States is NOT normal in other parts of the world. And, of course, just be friendly and flexible and stay close to your tour guide!

Oh, no. This is never an easy situation, but you're right. You've got to stand up for yourself! Keep in mind that the best way to let her know how you feel is to TELL her clearly. Trying to show her in different ways doesn't always work and might make the both of you upset. Good luck!
Charlotte, The holidays are coming up and i don't know what to get my family. Last year we had a holiday shoppe were kids could buy things for there family. You might want to think about MAKING something for your family. That way, you can do it by yourself without your mom looking over your shoulder! Or, you could go to the mall with another grown-up, like your friend's mom, when picking out stuff for your family. Good luck!

One thing to keep in mind, though, is that these all sound like TEMPORARY situations, which means that any embarrassment, anger, or hurt will fade away if you give it some time. Now, I'm no one to give advice on how NOT to be a klutz, but I always try to anticipate klutz attacks before they happen and avoid them!

Good question! My dad and I moved a lot because he's a travel writer and writes about places all over the world. He feels that in order to write about a place, you need to know the culture really well. The best way to do that is to live there!

Good question! It sounds scary, but it really isn't. The flight attendants (and even the pilot sometimes!) go out of their way to make sure that you're comfortable and that you feel safe. I don't mind it at all!

Unfortunately, you can't just throw a switch and stop liking someone! But, if he let you down easy, he sounds like a pretty cool guy. I'd say to respect his decision, and maybe try to be just friends once you don't feel like you have a crush on him anymore.

Charlotte I love how you always deal with moving. Sometimes I want to move to get a different scenery but when I read Charlotte In Paris A Royal Adventure (at least I think that is what it is called) I realized that moving is not something that you can just live in a house for a while and then move. Moving must be very hard.

Me? And Nick? Oh... I don't know. Maybe. Maybe in a few years :-) I deal with school by just taking one day at a time. I also try to stay on top on long-term assignments. That keeps the last-minute pressure off!

Good question! I didn't have to KEEP my sanity because for as long as I can remember, my dad and I have been traveling all over the world! I'm very organized when I travel, and that makes for smooth sailing :-) I made a lot of friends when I was living in other countries, like Sophie in France. I went to visit her in my Special Adventure, Charlotte in Paris!

Writing is all about editing! It's true! When you write a story, try to make it the best you possibly can. Then give it to a few people to read and make comments. It's always good to get other people's opinions on your work. You'll create a much better story or article!

deae charlotte I'm having some trouble with math and I don't no what to do about it and my sisters keep presuring me about it because all three of them got good grades in math and their all saying they think their grades are bad but what do you think Of A's And B's can you help me?
There's nothing wrong with As and Bs! That's great! It is difficult when you feel pressure to get good grades, but if you feel like you can't handle it on your own, don't be afraid to ask for help! I'm sure your math teacher would be happy to explain things to you one-on-one. Sometimes, that's much easier than trying to understand things in class. Good luck!

Writer's block can be so tough sometimes! The best way to beat it is to get up and do something else for a few minutes. Take a quick walk, complete another task, or call your BFF -- anything to get your mind of whatever you're writing about. Then, after that short break, your mind should feel refreshed. Who knows? You might gain some new perspective in those few minutes!
hey charlotte, you have inspired me so much! i want to be a writer someday too. my teachers always say i have beautiful writing, so last year i decided to write a mini story. my friends said it was great, but when i gave it to my teacher,she did not rerally like it. i felt kindda sad, but then i read about you and jennifer and was ok. i knew that everything could not be perfect, and that not everyone likes everything that you do.

That's great! If you believe in your writing, then you can only improve. Teachers will give you great suggestions on how to make your writing even better. There's always stuff to learn!

Charlotte, How do you get your writing inspiration? I write songs and startings of books that I want to publish someday and sometimes I get stuck! So, I need some ideas on how to get some inspiration!!!

I get most of my writing inspiration by going out on my balcony with a big blanket and just looking at the stars. That's when I let my mind wander and think about the things that are most important to me. You can find inspiration by going to a special place (like me!) or just by observing the world around you. Sometimes, when I'm out to eat or at the grocery store with my dad, I'll notice people as they walk by and make up a story about their lives. So, inspiration can come from everywhere -- just open up your eyes to it!

Good question! I've loved all the places I've lived in for different reasons. There's Paris, which was so lovely and sophisticated. There's Tanzania, which was wild and adventurous. And then there's Port Douglas in Australia, which was so laid-back and beautiful. So, I love them all -- and now, I get to be in Brookline with the BSG!
