New Girls Unite!

My personal pet peeve about being a new girl is that every time I move to a new school, I hear people whispering as I walk by. I don’t think they mean anything bad by it, but it stinks to be singled out like that. Being the new girl has been fun, embarrassing, exciting, a little scary, but always an adventure. You can check out what happened on my first day of middle school at Abigail Adams Junior High in Worst Enemies/Best Friends … let’s just say it was an experience I’ll never forget!

Have you ever been the “new girl”? How was it? Do you have a funny story or embarrassing moments? Got any tips or advice for other new girls? Let me know!

I was just the new girl last year, and it was the start of middle school! We moved in the middle of the year from Alaska to Virginia. It was also in the middle of sports week, and everyone was wearing their sports jersey but me, so I was the only one in our school's uniform! I was so embarrassed. It was my first time switching classes and having a locker, so everytime we went to change classes, I had to ask someone where to go. I've never been very dependent on other people before, so I was mortified every time I had to ask the person next to me which books went with each class. My face, I'm sure was red all day. And as if things couldn't get any worse, at lunch I had no one to sit with and I ended up sitting with some girls in my class, who are now my best friends, and we had nothing to talk about! Now that I look back on it , it wasn't as bad as my other times being the new girl, which has been one too many!

Hey Charlotte,
I recently moved away from my hometown. Over 2000 miles away!
Starting school was tough. I didn't get off to a good start. Then another new girl introduced herself to me at the school open house.
We have been bffs since. I am super glad I met her.
Later,
anonymous

When I Was The New Girl

When I was the new girl luckily I wasn't alone. I had a friend from my old school! We were going into the 2nd grade and we were both very nervous! We were in the same class though! Now as we look back we see have seen lots of new people come to our school, and go. We (me and my friend) always welcome the new people, sometimes they are shy and don't make new friends as easily as we did. Or there is the new people who make new friends easily and don't need us. Now me and my friend are going into 6th grade, and her mom has had cancer for 2 years. Our class helps out her family as best as we can remembering how they were welcomed by her on there first day. I am filled with great sadness for my friend and her family. My family is very close to her family, and we have resently found out that her mom has made a great recovery! (her tumor grew, and the doctors told us that she was going to die) Me and my friend are nervous for middle school, but know that we will be fine because of what we've gone through together.

Just because your in a new school now doesn’t mean that when people stare at you they think you’re strange. Try to make new friends with the people that look at you. Maybe you’re an attention getter and a lot of people want to be your friend. [: Trust me, once you’re friends with them you’ll laugh and say ,”remember you always used to stare at me?, now we’re best friends.” So take my advice, try talking to those people. They might wind up to be your bffl or bff.
