Secret Crushes

Dear Journal,

We were having a Tower sleepover the other night when Maeve brought up the one subject that always makes me feel tingly all the way down to my toes: Nick Montoya—aka, my super-secret sorta crush. I know I must have turned 50 different shades of red. I mean, it can be fun to talk about Nick with the BSG, but it can also be SOOOO embarrassing! And you won’t believe what Maeve was saying. She actually thinks I should…get ready for this…ASK HIM OUT!

Of course my first reaction was no no no no NO! No way am I ready for that. And then, when I thought about it some more, my reaction was still NO. Hanging out with Nick is so much fun, and I definitely don’t want things to get weird. We always have an awesome time just kicking a soccer ball around or even working on a school project together! I’m afraid that if I bring up the whole ‘I like you’ issue, things will get messed up.

And you know what? I’m totally OK with feeling like that. I think it’s cool that Maeve would be brave enough to just walk up to her crush and ask him out, but that’s sooo not me. I just want to take it slow and see what happens naturally. For now, the only crush I want to hear about is the one between Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth from Pride and Prejudice!

	You know, I always keep my crushes secret, but then some other girl always comes along and snatches him up, and then I always get disappointed because I was to shy and my chance passed. If you have enough guts, you should just ask him out on a fun date, or maybe go on a no-pressure, group "date" that won't feel to datey. It's a simple way to get closer, without anything being wrecked between you.

P.S. I KNOW for a FACT that my dad would go balistic if he found out I had a crush on anyone. OK, he might not go BALISTIC, but he will start going into his rant about how I used 2 b his "Lttle, Little" (UGH! HOW EMBARRASSING!) and how I'm growing up so fast. You do what ever you want. If I were in your position I would Keep it half seceret(I know strange). Write itdown in a private diary...so you can get your feelings off your shoulders. Or tell someone who you trust...mom, sister, or even a friend. You know they wont critizize you. After a while when you comfortable...tell him. 1. get to be friends with his friends even if there all guys
2. start to hang out with him (of course not alone, too akward)

Sometimes there is someone you like but your friends would just laugh if you even started to talk about him or if you're shy then you may not want to tell anybody (even your BFFS). You would probably keep him a secret. I would probably wait to tell him because things could get weird. If you are completly positive he likes you go for it. Or you could use that old ask your friend to ask his friend trick to find out. Just make sure you are ready to go out with him if he asks you out and you have already told him u like him. I think it is definitely okay to keep a secret crush secret. I told my crush that I liked him and then things got weird. It's so bad that now we only talk once or twice a month!! I would definitely just let him find out for himself. I do you that you should hang out with him more and then he may start to get an idea the smart way. Do NOT do what I did. Well, I think you should come clean with Nick. I know you don't want to but, I think you should. If y'all become BF and GF, YIPPEE!!! But don't get all mushy, just hang out like you normally would. Every once and a while, go to the movies and share a popcorn. Or, go to a restaurant and talk about the things you normally talk about. But, instead of going on dates all the time, just do the things you normally do. For example, kick the soccer ball around, and take a hike through the woods.
