Secret Crushes

Dear Journal,

We were having a Tower sleepover the other night when Maeve brought up the one subject that always makes me feel tingly all the way down to my toes: Nick Montoya—aka, my super-secret sorta crush. I know I must have turned 50 different shades of red. I mean, it can be fun to talk about Nick with the BSG, but it can also be SOOOO embarrassing! And you won’t believe what Maeve was saying. She actually thinks I should…get ready for this…ASK HIM OUT!

Of course my first reaction was no no no no NO! No way am I ready for that. And then, when I thought about it some more, my reaction was still NO. Hanging out with Nick is so much fun, and I definitely don’t want things to get weird. We always have an awesome time just kicking a soccer ball around or even working on a school project together! I’m afraid that if I bring up the whole ‘I like you’ issue, things will get messed up.

And you know what? I’m totally OK with feeling like that. I think it’s cool that Maeve would be brave enough to just walk up to her crush and ask him out, but that’s sooo not me. I just want to take it slow and see what happens naturally. For now, the only crush I want to hear about is the one between Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth from Pride and Prejudice!

I have plently of crushes, lately none but.. I'm kind'va of glad. Cause I really didn't know them well, so if we turned into gf/bf it mightturn out I didn't even really like them in the first place. And I know how you feel Charollette. You might know him and like him, but right know you like him as a friend. And your not old enough to grasp thoughs type of situations. So you might just want to keep it a secret. It's your choice.

Charlotte, you are my favorite so I am going to be honest with you. If you are REALLY uncomfortable with asking Nick out, don't ask him. But, I still think you should ask him. In my opinion, he likes you and you guys make such a cute couple. Also, if you don't tell him now, you may end up losing him. Trust me on this, Char, I recently went through this. If he doesn't like you back, he is not worth stressing about. Secret crushes are fun to have, but when they are your boyfriend, that's even better. Still, it's all up to you. Didn't you say in some of your stories that it seemed like Nick liked you? If you still think that, you should tell him. If you think he likes someone else, you should probably try to get over it, or wait 'til he starts liking you again. I hope you manage to tell him, that'd be so cool. Besides, if you don't tell him, you'll never get over the suspicious feeling or getting nervous around him.

I think that you should tell Nick about your true feelings eventually. But of course not until you're ready to. You shouldn't do anything you don't want to no matter what someone says or does. Maybe you could practice telling him that you like him by pretending one of your friends is him. It's really not good to keep things locked up inside of you. I can honestly say that I once kept a secret crush secret, but it was no use. Just know that you have FRIENDS!!! They're the ones who can help you. I confided in my friends, and they've helped me with everything. Like today- I told my crush- well, my friends told him- that I liked him, and my crush didn't like me back! I wasn't very upset though- my friends helped me through it. I LOVE my friends, and even though if Nick doesn't like you back, your friends will always be there for you.

Totally. Infact I had some over the past and was friends with that guy when i liked him. What i read based on the books it seemed like he likes you back. Remember in the first book when he was going to kiss you. So just treat him like you would to a normal friend(for example Chelsea)and then maybe you will be together one day. My advice is treat him as you would fro any other friend.And if you wanted to get closer(aka better friends) with Nick than ask him to go with the movies with you or meet up at his parent's cafe or something like that. That's a good point -- if I just think of him as only a friend, maybe I won't get so weird around him sometimes. Although, he's kinda cute, so it might be hard not to get all blush-y and avoid eye contact! lol!

Well, if you feel okay with it. Of course, it is best to tell your friends. So, they know that this is happening. See, my cousin had a crush on a guy s, and she didn't tell us for a long time. We kept on saying he was a weirdo for no reason. My cousin cared about him alot. So, she broke down and started crying. We finally stopped. No one can tell you not to keep your crush secret but no one can tell you weather to tell him either. For one thing, tell Isabel. Her feelings won't be hurt because she is really and truly your friend. Tell Avery because she'll be cool with it. Tell Maeve because she has a good heart and will help you figure out your discomfort. Tell Katani because she'll understand. You may not have to tell Nick if you don't want to, but I bet you can tell your friends. After all, I bet they all (except Avery) have crushes but were too afraid to talk about it. That's true, and I totally love the BSG. I trust them more than anyone. And, sometimes, I think that if I couldn't talk to the BSG about the way I feel about Nick -- and that changes, lol! -- I'd burst!

Thanks for the great advice, bookworm163. If the guy you like is friends with your friend, it might actually be easier to talk to her about him since she knows him. But, make sure you trust her before you spill your secrets.

Well, the BSG know me better than anyone, so I think they already know. Plus, Maeve is always teasing me about it -- but in a good-natured way. It's not mean teasing at all. They help me put things in perspective, and Isabel is always so supportive.
