Ace Your Audition: Part II
What to Bring to an AuditionHello again lovelies! It's Maeve! So, you're preparing and practicing for your big audition, but as the day gets closer, you'll need to know what to bring with you! Read Part I: Preparing Read Part III: The Big Day Get Organized Pull together everything you need to take with you the night before the audition. It'll be one less thing to worry about on the big day. Make sure you know what the director wants you to do at the audition—that way if there is a dance portion, you'll have your dance clothes ready. A true actress is always prepared for anything! Head Shots A head shot is simply a fabulous picture of you! Ask a friend or family member to take a picture of you by yourself! There's no need for fancy make up or artistic poses—just your dazzling smile! A head shot should be a close-up so the directors recognize your face. If you want, you can get creative with a background. I know all of MY headshots were taken in front of a bright pink wall because that's my favorite color. You can do the same with your favorite color or maybe your favorite place in the background. The head shot reminds the director of who you are when he or she sits down to cast the show. A fabulous head shot can help them remember just how marvelous your audition was! Resume A resume is a list of your experience. Include your involvement in plays, dance classes, voice lessons, choirs, camps, anything you can think of that relates to theater! If you're including a play you were in, write what part you played. Include times that you worked backstage too! Directors love it when an actress knows more about theater than how to act. Make sure your resume is neat and organized and it should have your name and age at the top. If you don't have any acting experience, that's okay. Directors love fresh, new talent! |
