Club BSG
I. CLUB BSG I want to join the fun! How do I sign up for Club BSG? Simple! Club BSG is a free club for girls under the age of 17. All you need to do is click on "Not a Member? Join Now!" in the Club BSG Login box on the right side of every page. I’m already a Club BSG member, but what happens if I don’t remember my username or password? Don’t sweat it! Click on "Lost Password or Username?" in the Club BSG Login box. Enter your registered email address, and you’ll get to a page where we’ll give you a temporary password. We’ll also tell you how you can change that temporary password to something you will remember! OK! What do I get to do in Club BSG? A ton of fun stuff! Post comments, vote in polls, get dibs on exclusive Club BSG contests, and more! You’ll also receive our free newsletter that alerts you to all the latest BSG news, contests, book previews, and events. II. COMMENTING Can anybody post comments on beaconstreetgirls.com? No. You must be a registered member of Club BSG who has logged in using a valid username and password. You can do that in the Club BSG Login box on the right side of every page. If you are under the age of 13, an email will be sent to your parents notifying them of your registration and your ability to participate in Club BSG. Once you’ve logged in as a Club BSG member, post on topics that interest you! OK, but where can I post my comments on beaconstreetgirls.com? You can post comments on almost every page! Maeve, Katani, Isabel, Avery, Marty, and friends of the BSG all ask special questions that appear in green boxes all over the site. Read and answer those questions by adding your opinion, comment, book review, and more! All posts are reviewed by a real person before other people can see it, so there may be a delay before your comment gets posted. You can also respond to another post or ask the BSG or celebrity guests YOUR questions! Keep checking back, because the BSG will try to respond to as many comments as possible. So, only Club BSG members can post comments—but, is it safe? Yes, beaconstreetgirls.com is very safe. Every comment submitted by Club BSG member is reviewed by a real person before other people can see it. No comments that include subjects considered to be against BSG values will be permitted. If you see something on our site that makes you feel uncomfortable, you can report it by emailing bsgboard@beaconstreetgirls.com. Will I be asked to give out any of my personal information? No. To log in to beaconstreetgirls.com, you will need to type in your username and password, but only your username will be visible to others—your email address and password will NOT be shown. Club BSG will not share your email address with anyone else and will never ask you for your password. It’s important that you do not share your password with anyone. When Club BSG comments are posted, personal information (or any inappropriate language or subjects) written by mistake or on purpose will be deleted. What are the rules about posting comments? We do not allow any disrespectful comments, hateful words, inappropriate topics, or bad language on beaconstreetgirls.com. If we see a comment with any of these elements, it will not be published. We also do not allow personal information of any kind to be posted. If you include personal information in your comment (such as first name, age, phone number, address, email, school, town, friends’ names, etc.), it will be removed before we post it, or it may not get published at all. When you sign up for the Club, please do not include any personal information in your user name or you may be asked to change it. You may also be asked to change your user name if we feel it references an inappropriate topic. (Here's a quick test for appropriateness -- would you want your "little sister" -- or any little sister -- to be talking about it?) If you did choose an inappropriate user name, you can easily "unregister" and re-register with a different user name here . Here is a guide that includes (but is not limited to) what is considered inappropriate on our site for you and for talking about another person: 1. First and last names 2. Mailing addresses 3. Cities 4. Zip codes 5. Phone numbers 6. School and teacher names 7. Sports team names 8. Screen names on other sites 9. Email addresses 10. Bad language (curse words and hurtful words) 11. Inappropriate topics 12. Disrespectful language (rude comments directed at other members) The following practices are prohibited and may result in a user being banned from beaconstreetgirls.com: 1. Impersonating the Beacon Street Girls characters and other persons, real or made-up 2. Profanity or vulgarity of any kind 3. Copying other comments to publish as your own 4. Plagiarizing content written by other people (including songs, poems, stories, etc.) 5. Excessive use of capitals letters when typing III. CONTESTS How can I enter to win free prizes on beaconstreetgirls.com?! Easy! Click on our Win Prizes! page, and you’ll see plenty of new contests to enter every few weeks! Each contest will have its own instructions and official rules and regulations. Please read the instructions carefully—to be fair to everyone, we have to disqualify entries that do not follow directions. BSG contests will usually ask you to enter in one or more of the following ways: (1) by mail, (2) by email, (3) by posted comment. What kind of information should I always include in my entry by snail mail and email? (1) By snail mail, all complete submissions MUST include a first name (or screen name), mailing address, email address, and parent email address. (2) All email entries MUST include a parent’s email address. Please note that we do not collect shipping information electronically from Club BSG members due to privacy and safety concerns, so member email and parent email addresses must be valid and checked frequently. How do I know if I’ve won, and how do I get my prize? Once we choose a winner (or winners), we will notify you and your parent by email. Per our policy, we only collect mailing addresses with entries are sent through snail mail. We will use this address to mail you your prize. We will not keep your address any longer than necessary to send your prize. Emailed entries must include a parent’s email address because, per our policy, we do not collect mailing addresses (shipping information) from our members electronically due to privacy and safety concerns. If you have won, we will email your parent and request this information. What if neither my parents nor I receive the email? It is very important to provide us with valid email addresses that you and your parents check frequently for this reason. If we do not hear back from you or your parent within one week (seven days), we will send a reminder notice. If we still do not hear back in another week (14 days from original notice), your prize will be forfeited and awarded to someone else. OK! What if I have more questions about beaconstreetgirls.com online contests? Please read the official rules and regulations included on each contest page. For further information, please email bsgboard@beaconstreetgirls.com. IV. THE BEACON STREET GIRLS Are the Beacon Street Girls real girls? No. The characters and storylines in the Beacon Street Girls book series and on beaconstreetgirls.com are fictitious. Responses to Club BSG comments are answered by editorial staff. Any similarity to real persons, living or dead, is coincidental and unintended. Are any of the Beacon Street Girls characters based on a real people? The Beacon Street Girls, their friends, and their families are based on the characteristics of many people (and dogs!)—not just one per character. References to real people, events, establishments, organizations, products, or locales are intended only to provide a sense of authenticity and are not to be construed as endorsements. V.
