Dazzle in Dance Class
Always bring appropriate footwear for the class. The right shoes not only improve your dancing, they also keep you safe from injury. Ask the teacher a few days ahead of time if you don't know what to wear.Never chew gum during class. It's also a good idea—and the rule at many dance schools—to keep food and drink out of the studio. Always style your hair so that it's out of your face and out of your way when you dance. Wearing your hair down can be fun in performance (if your teacher allows it), but it can get annoying and distracting in class. Never talk during dance class. If someone else in the class starts talking to you, it’s polite to say, "Let’s talk after class, okay?" and turn your attention back to the teacher. Always get to class on time. Missing part of the warm up is not only rude to your teacher and the other dancers, but it can be dangerous for you, too. Muscles that aren't warmed up are in the danger zone for injury. Never stop dancing until you reach the other side of the room if your class involves combinations or exercises that move across the floor. Giving up halfway across the floor makes it look like you don't care. Always keep giving 110 percent, all the way to the end of class. When you're feeling tired, it’s easy to sort of stop trying and walk your way through combinations or exercises. But what’s the point of going to class if you don’t make the most of it? |
