Here's something that a person in my class wrote for a home work assgnment about saving trees and more, so I told her about BSG.com so that girl sent it to me...here it goes...
Dear Editor, At a school my hometown an amount of paper that weighs more then an elephant is being used everyday. At least a zillion pieces of paper are being wasted from homework. Now I am saying this as a student, I think we should not have homework. We should not cry over this like we are crying over spilled milk. We need to take action. If you listen you can hear the trees are saying “Don’t cut me down. Stop giving homework!” If you think about it all those trees that are cut down each year for homework, you wonder how many trees will be left for the next generation. Chip, chip, chip timber, thump! That is the way the poor defenseless tree sounds as it is falling to the ground. You can help that sound go away. We just have to tell teachers not to give homework. We will save billions of trees. This is a problem that we have to act to now. If the teachers do not stop giving homework you will have no trees for tomorrow. Trees are going as fast as dinosaurs. The trees are not singing happiness. Trees should talk to teachers telling them to stop taking there trunks. As you can see homework is costing us the lives of our children. I think we should stop giving homework and safe the future.
We have this club in our school where we try to make less garbage. We weigh our garbage everyday and I think that our class is making a real progress by making less garbage! We recycle, reduce, and reuse! We even learned how to do paper from different unused bits of paper. It's all so cooool!! There are so many creative stuff u can do with things u don't need! Ex. If there are 2 or mere old books u don't need, first, glue them together with the pages and everything exept for the cover of the book on top. Then cut a big whole through the pages leaving the covers of the top and bottom books. And Voila! You've got a place where u can put secret stuff without anybody ever finding out! When u put the "books" on a shelf, only u will know that it's actually a secret compartment!! Hope u like that idea!
People should grow some of their own food! It helps, money and gas wasted on transportation of the food (which sometimes goes bad) can be used for better things(money) like a hybrid car!! Or organic food! Also its cheaper! I have carrots, tomatoes, peas, and a bunch of herbs! Also don't buy stuff with a lot of packaging! Denimgirl07 do you want to be friends? Before you go in the fridge, think of what you want instead of just looking! Turn off the water while you brush your teeth! Take short showers! Don't drink bottled water, bring your own bottle and refill it! If you wear crocs, there are organizations that recycle them into new crocs then send the new crocs to Africa! Plant a tree this month! Don't buy anything this week, other than food! Ride your bike or walk! You don't need 15 pairs of shoes, it's wasteful! Replace your light bulbs with energy efficient ones! Turn off the lights when you leave the room. Don't turn up the heater, put on a sweater! Don't put on the AC, go outside! Unplug the computer! Let your hair air dry! SAVE THE EARTH!

it was at a cabin. i was with my 8th grade cousin. we were by a lake super late so we went out to sit on the dock. in the water i saw a refleation of an old man. then it faded away within 30 seconds that was all i saw!!

my parents own hybrids!!!my dad works for a clean air co. we reuse paper bags, we never get plastic, if we do we use the to line our garbage bin. we recycle paper, bottles, and cans!!!we also have a compost pile instead of throwing away old food!!!!!!plant trees!! this weekendwe are planting 13 bamboo plants!!!! it's a great way to help the enviroment!!! I heard Hybrid cars just save the eviorment, but not $. The battery is super expensive and needs to b replaced like 7 or 8 times in 13 years and that costs like $10000, the price of gas for like a year or two, and the car itself is expensive
My parents always threw out old papers and notes so i set up a box that says, "Put all inneeded paper in here then when full in the garage for the garbage truck 2 pick up,". I'm shocked at how much paper is in there daily, weekly, monthly. GO RECYCLING!!!!
Earth day is so soon! Gather up a group of people from your nieghborhood to all go down to the park or beach and pick up trash and put in a trash bag. Weigh all the trash bags collected and whose ever weighs the most can get a small prize!

Last year in Science, we were told that we were going to a project to help the earth. Our teacher said that we could do anything that we could think of. Two of my two friends and I formed a group, and we decided that we were going to raise money for the World Wildlife Fund. I'm also now even saving all my spare pocket change, and once I get enough I'm going to send the money into WWF. I'm hoping that i will really make a difference in the world! Today, in Science class, we watched a really lame cartoon about the earth. But the message was good. One of the things that one character kept saying was, "A difference is a difference, big, or small. Either way, it helps us all!" I think that people should think that about the earth, too! don't use paper or plastic bags at the store, use reusable bags. Also, pick trash off the ground you see and/or you should/could keep a plastic bag in your car so that every time you see trash while your driving, you can pick it up and put it in the plastic bag.

I think us girls can do so much we can recycle old hair products resposible in a safe place, we could also start a small group that helps your community clean up the streets, we also can send letters to major industries that help with saving our planet. chocolatte, yeah, they do cost a lot, so I only get them on special occaisions and when I need a mood-booster! But I tried some of the chocolate protein shake thing, and it was the nastiest thing in the world! Their lemonades are the best, though!
My family and I reuse a lot of stuff and every week we always have more stuff recycled than of trash. A couple of years back we had to get a new and trash can sized recycle bin. Even our ferret litter is made of 100% recycled paper!
One interesting thing that my family does is that we reuse jelly jars as glasses. drink out of them all the time! If your family eats jelly, then try this. ~Choco*Latte

get your parents 2 buy reusable products like rechargable batteries, cloth napkins, silverware, glass bowls or cups or plates!or recycle your water bottles and soda cans. turn off lights when you don't need to use them. and only use electronis when you have to. bye!
I'm in a group at school that is in charge of recycling-every week we take all the stuff to the recycling center. It's hard work, especially in winter, but worth it! Just recently I learned that recycling 1 aluminum can provides enough energy for 3 hours of TV!
you could go green by going the shorest possibly way to the closest store its saves gas and gas can hurt earths ozone layer. if you do go try buying more organic foods if there are no organic foods for that item then just buy the cheapest of that item. its saves money and money from trees and trees give oxygen to us!!!
we buy all our food organic/biological. here in austria almost all supermarkets have every sort of food in a biological version and a nonbiological version. we always buy the biological one. and if you buy fairtrade products, you can help save people too.

pleaaase don't go for the 'I'm a vegetarian but I still eat chicken'. Vegetarian means 'I do not eat birds, fish, or meat' and sometimes ' I don't eat that stuff AND I don't eat marshmallows, or anything else with gelatin and I don't wear animal skin.' Someone who only eats chicken. no other meat, is a 'I don't eat meat exceept for chicken' person.
BSGlover123, thats no problemo!! I absolutly HATE tofu, and im healthy! But you can't just cut it out. You have to come across tofu sometimes. It has a lot of protein in it. Some people buy 'Silken Tofu' and put it in smoothies and milkshakes. THe only thing I don't like about tofu is the texture. Theres no taste.

BSGlover123, the firstthing you need to decide is wether you like tofu or not. Don't worry if you don't because I don't and I'm perfectly healthy. My mom and I crumble tofu and beans into spaghetti sauses and stuff like that. Peanut Butter is a big part of my eating too. Peanut Butter has a lot of protein. If your allergic to Peanuts, try almand butter and stuff.

I just started being really into eco- things because I was learning about it in Science and I completely went crazy over it. Here's what you can do with just everyday things: if you see a piece(s) of trash on the ground, try to pick them up. Also you can make/buy reusable grocery bags. Anything can help.
laxrox12, i read what you said about fur. On TV, i saw a long coat, with a matching hat and purse (it was a show about animals and they were against the jacket and stuff) and it said that it took like, 53 some kind of wild cats to make it!!!!

Back in the "old days" they use to use cloth bags instead of paper bags, didn't have paper or plastic utensils and dinnerware...it was so much better back then but people had ideas they thought would be better but just aren't...if any of u guys do sports use those plastic bottles that are made to be reused like the ones u get from the ice vault...thats wat i do....

We kids really gotta pitch in cause we're the future. they should have a town clean up day every month or every 2 months or somethin like that. There could be bins for each type of garbage so we could recycle 2!!!! I only got 1 big snowstorm this year and last year because of global warming...
In my town when get a town newspaper and this one girl said that on march 28 she wanted the whole town to limit their activities to one room...it also said that they are tryin 2 do that in the US. My science teacher told us about this car they just made called the aptara i think but its only sold in california. It gets like 300 or more miles per gallon.
Reuse things! Once my brother and I heard my mom say she didn't want anything out of a catalouge she got in the mail so we askes her if we could have it. We tore it up and taped it into shapes to make paper people! They turned out cool!
oh yeah- 1 more thing... a short and simple way to state you hate global warming is this- when ur upset, instead of saying, "Darn it!" or "Aw, man." say, "Global Warming!" people will hear the tone of your voice and know that it's in the place of "Darn!" you'll help the environment without knowing it! If you tried this and it works click the heart!
I am a total activist in every way. Im so excited about the way girls are taking part in the whole 'going green' thing. i recycle, use both sides of paper... everything. kudos to you if you're a vegaterian... I'm still debating that becuz i'd need to eat fish which I hate (no offense!) but anyway if you wanna do something to help, turn off the water when you brush your teeth, only use 1 lamp plus your light fixture when you're studying, and, most importantly, tell other people about pollution and stuff. Maybe they can help! Remember, 1 more person going green = 1 more person in favor of living the way they should. Go Green Girls!
A lot of people think that humans are the cause of global warming, but we really aren't. Global Warming happened in the Ice Age, and we didn't have computers or cars to destroy the earth then. Also, the Global Warming rates were higher in the 1930s
We also need to stop burning up so many fossil feuls-gas, oil, and coal. They release carbon dioxide into the air! Stop cutting down trees, too! When people cut down trees, they're weakining the atmosphere and ozone's immune system. That means that the sun's ultraviolet radiation rays will become stronger and our environment will become weaker.
