First Kids: Malia and Sasha

malia_sasha_keke_michelle_240.jpgIf your mom or dad were elected president of the United States, imagine how your life would change! Picture this: grown-ups everywhere taking care of anything you need, fancy dinner parties with important people wanting to meet you, and girls across the globe looking to you as a role model. Could you handle that—or would it start to make you crazy?

These are questions the Obama sisters—Malia and Sasha—are probably asking themselves now that their father has settled in as the 44th president of the United States.

Our first lady, Michelle, has told newspapers and magazines that she wants to keep life as normal as possible for Malia and Sasha—they'll still have to clean up after themselves and do chores like making their beds.

Of course, being the "first kids" has its perks, too. The girls enjoyed a front row seat to watch Miley Cyrus, Bow Wow, and the Jonas Brothers perform at the star-studded Kids' Inaugural: We Are the Future event held on January 19, 2009, in Washington DC (check out the photo of True Jackson: VP's Keke Palmer posing with the Obama girls!). They're also the proud owners of a Wii and a puppy!

Malia and Sasha are not the first children call the White House home, but young kids haven't lived there in many years. Check out these fun facts about former "first kids!"

Abraham Lincoln's youngest son, Tad, was quite the prankster, but rarely got in big trouble for his behavior. Sometimes, he even rode his pet goats and ponies INSIDE the White House!

Gerald Ford's daughter, Susan, pulled some strings and had her senior prom hosted at the White House. Wow—talk about a night of nights!

Theodore Roosevelt had six children… and a small ZOO of pets! The Roosevelt kids looked after horses, birds, badgers, raccoons, cats, dogs, and snakes.

Jimmy Carter's daughter, Amy, had what most kids have in their backyards—a tree house. However, this tree house was reportedly designed by President Carter himself and built by a professional carpenter.

Bill Clinton and former first lady Hillary Clinton arranged for a special scavenger hunt to be set up as a way for their daughter, Chelsea, to learn her way around the 132 rooms of the White House.
