swimdude44, Thanks for asking! I got 3rd or 4th in both Breast stroke and Butterfly. (the results weren't out and we had to go so that is why I'm not totally sure.) fyora325- um, well, no! I don't! Look in a summer activities magazine (they might give them out at the town hall of your town) and it might have something. That's where I found out about my swim team, but it's about $140 for 2 people so that MIGHT not be what your looking for! LOL!

i satrted swim team today and it was good my coach was absent so we had a sub In my lane was one of my bffls and two snails( by snails i mean the slowest people eva) they stunk it was so fun feeling te rush of the water as i streamlined. We did one handed free, fly, and back. For breast we did kick kick pull i t was fun but challenged me No distracting hottttttttttttttttt guys. bsgluva, i was on a swimmteam last year and @ 1sti had the same problem, but i made new friends i just tryed 2 show off in front of him...and if your busy trying to show off then you'll most likley push yourself hard so that u look good in front of your hott guy,hope my advice helps.
bsgluva- I am only ten! Are you eleven? Thanks! Those are my absolute favorite strokes! In meets, my races are usually breast, free, and free relay (we are only allowed to race in three events, but I would do more!). Good luck! I suck at fly! But who knows? You could be better at it this year! Last year, I stunk at back, and this year I rock at it, and I didn't practice at all! But my thing for fly is: Try, try, again. And also: Don't give up at the middle line. You'll drown. Trust me, I have pretty much experienced it! LOL! Put your legs together, and start out on streamline. Pull your arms back to your side, and then pull them out of the water and over your head. Take a breath as soon as your hands at the same time your fingers hit the water. When your arms reach your sides, bend your legs so your feet are out of the water, and splash backdown. Is that too confusing and does it make sense? I'll re explain it if you want me too! And you WILL NOT stink; believe in yourself! The cute boy might not even be in your lane, so just concentrate on the person ahead of you! Have fun! And of course I wanna be friends! swimdude44: well, fly used 2 b really hard 4 me 2 (i mean it still is, but not as hard) anyway, i used 2 barely use my stomach & make my arms do all the wk, so i could barely do a 25 & my arms hurt! but this yr, my coach sed 2 let ur stomach do more of the wk, & i did & its SO much easier!!!!! as 4 flip turns, if ur pool has a black line on the floor of the pool (i think most pools do) 1ce u get 2 the end of the black line, take 1 more stroke, & flip! sumx u mite haf 2 like glide 4 a lil 2 get close enuf but only 4 like 2 sec/less, & if u need help 4 back flip turns, idk if this will wk 4 every1, but it wks 4 me if u have flags, dpending on how far tha r from the wall, 1ce ur get past the flags start do 5/6 strokes then flip over, do 1 stroke free & flip! like i sed, idk if this will wk 4 u but it wks 4 me! ttyl -hplvr123

Cookygirl, you and i seem to have a lot in common we both heart swimmen and are in the 11 12 age group congrats on beingin the 13 14 lane i am really fast too. I love breathstroke and freestyle. I start practice tommorrow and will prob satrt with 10 laps of free then do 8 of breath then 6 of back. Yeah! Today's practice was fun! I got moved up to the 13-14 lane, but it was hard! For warm up, we did 2 100's of free sprint. Then we did 2 IMs. Next we did one 100 of kick-board-gravestone. Then we did one 100 of freestyle-kick-board. Then we did streamline-IM. Then we did flip turns. Then we did 3 100 laps free sprint. Next we did 4 laps breast stroke. And finally we did 4 laps cool down. HARD! My goal by the end of the season is to be in the 14-15-16 lane!

martlover987- well my BFF was the exact same way when she first joined my swim team. During practices, she would tell the coaches that her stomach hurt, and she would sit on the deck crying. But she got over it. I bet your friend will, too! Now, me and my BFF are still on the same swim team, and we both love it!
hi ppl, umm....i need some advice for swim....even though this isn't the advice club. OK my friend wanted really badly to be on my swim team, but now that she's on she doesn't really want to do it cause she doesn't really think she's a good swimmer or that swim team will be fun. I keep telling her that it's wicked fun and she's a great swimmer but she just thinks of the worse possible thing happening. how can i explain that its super fun?

Hey, Swimdude44, I bet anything my practices are harder! Yesterday we had to run four miles, then swim a mile then get out of the water quick and dash another mile and a half, then we got back in the water and swam four miles of butteryfly!

hey swimdude44 here's the trick: when your doing fly just keep going straight up to the wall and when you can hit it really hard and turn around then you just need to keep pracicing. do you want to be friends? i am on a swim team and we compete. and i do get tired in the middle of a 25yrd but just keep going. think about food at the end when your about to hit the wall or something that you like. i always take juice drinks because i am so hungry after swim team. write me back and tell me if you want to be my friend and i hope the advice works!!!!!
I REALLY NEED HELP WITH FLY AND FLIP TURNS! I know how to do them and all but for fly I get out of breath by the middle of a 25 even! And for flip turns I can never seem to get close enough to the wall! HEELPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
swim4ever- yeah i've been on my team for 4 years! my brother has been on it for eight, and all my cousins who are in high and college have been doing it since age 7! I can't believe u have 2 do THAT much! i thought 4 400 fly's was bad! LOL! I HATE BUTTERFLY! I'm ten and my friends nine and we r practicing in a lane with 12 year olds! my meets start july 3rd! I CAN"T WAIT!
bria6785, that's not so bad, i had to do 6 500 free's witch olny 10 sec. rest btween each 600. then we had to do a 400 im (a 100 of evry stroke without stopping)
first, we had to run 2 miles around the track, but since i walked 4 like half a lap, the coach made me do an extra mile!!! then, i had 2 swim 4 the hour and a half, the remaining time left of practice!!! it was soooo sooo soooooooo hard!!!
if you can't do a flip just follow these steps: 1st:learn how to do a handstand 2nd:Once you have that down pat fall forward there you go you can do a handstand
when you start to do breststroke, do strem line of the wall for three seconds , then pull your arms back for three seconds. Than come back up and do your breststroke
bria6785: u do dives? & off the diving board? we do starts @ meets & sumx @ practice & soccer ball dives only @ practice. & we do them off the side of the pool, not the diving board! @ sum pools tha have starting blox tho, so @ those pools we do it off them. ttyl -hplvr123
bria- OMG! i feel so BAD for u! we get new coaches every year, and this year, for the 2nd lane (they organize them by age) which I'm in, for the 8-10 yr. olds, she was al llike "we might try 2 laps of breast stroke. but only if all of u want to." i was like I'm used to 600 yard warmup! her sister was our couch last year and usually for warm ups we did 8 laps of fly! i mean that's tiring, but seriously, if she thinks I can't do at least 4 laps, I'm gonna.... what ever, I'll just real mad! but i was GONNA be in the 3rd lane with my bff who is nine and I'm ten and even tho the lane was 11-12 we were fast enough! ERR!
hplver123- we usually have to wear swim caps but yesterday (the first day) only one person did! to get it on- put your hair up in a ponytail on top of your head and fill it up w/ pool water. It might feel cold when u put it on your head, but it worx! so yeah r lanes are grouped by age, and last year I was in Lane 1. this year, I went to lane 2, they told me 2 go back to 1, then they said go to 2, and then they said go to lane three. but lane three was to fast so i went back to lane 2. today, I am going to 3 no matter what! one of my coaches (we have dif. ones each year) is my old coaches sis. I LOVE 2 SWIM! -TCS!
YAY! So, OK, I just started swimming yesterday. They worked us so hard! We had to do 4 "100"s of each stroke. ONE 100 means 2 full laps. FOUR 100s...well...let's just say it was hard! AND then they made us REPEAT that again. (When I say each stroke, I mean freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly). And THEN they had us do 2 100s with the kickboard, and we did two sprints. I WON BOTH OF THEM! THEN we went to the diving board and practiced dives. FINALLY, we were done...and then I went home and took a looong, hoooot shower, and had a whole bagel with cream cheese and my dad's complimentory Hot Cocoa. MMM! Heart this is you think swimming is the best exersize!

I don't do swim team, because I hate swimming instructionally. All I like to do in the pool is jump off the diving board, hang out, do handstands, flips etc.
Swim team starts on monday! YAY! we practice 5 times a week for an hour, and have a meet every saturday for about like 5 hours! SO FUN! HAPPY HAPPY EXCITED!
