Dear Isabel, I am a big fan of u and the BSG!! But I have a problem and need your advice. I just started at a new school too and have been having trouble making friends. Most of the girls in my class have been there since kindergarten, so they already are really good friends with each other. But they never include me in their conversations and mostly just ignore me. Maybe I should just be involved in after-school activities to meet more people??

Hola art_extravagant. I think you're right - getting involved with some clubs or other activities after school will def help you get to know the girls in your class better. It's hard to break into a group of friends who have known each other practically forever, so try getting to know just one or two of them at first. You don't have to be part of any particular group to have really great friends - you can make your own group!
I have lots of dreams! One of them is to have my cartoons published in a real newspaper or magazine. Or to show a piece of my art in a real gallery. That would be so amazing!

Hola Hollibolly! Sometimes in a situation like that you feel like everybody is talking about you and looking at you, but really, they're probably just thinking about themselves! Concentrate on dancing your best and just ignore those chatty girls! I mean, you don't want to get in trouble for talking in line.

That would make me soooo mad! But I don't think you should cross your friend off the list yet. Ask her why she did what she did, and let her know that it really hurt your feelings. If she wants to stay friends with you, she's gotta rebuild your trust!

Ugh, I hate it when people spread rumors like that! Sooo annoying, because it's like whatever you say, you can't them to believe what really happened. Try to set the record straight with the guy people are talking about, but other than that, I would just ignore what people are saying.

Isabel, i have a huge problem, I love 2 dance ballet, but
a. my friends dont like ballet. They say it is stupid and i dont want them 2 laugh @ me so i just say something like, "Yeah, who would want 2 do that?"
b. there is no dance studio near where i live, so even if i wanted 2 i couldn't have lessons
- so should i just stick 2 putting pledge on my floor and practicing in my room, or should i ask my mom 2 drive me a 2 a studio that is about a hour and a half away and have my friends no and tease me ( i go 2 a small skool so evry 1 would no if i went which would b embarassing since no 1 else likes it)?
Hola softmints66! I totally know how you feel - I love ballet too, but I have an injured knee, so I don't get to dance much anymore. If you're really into ballet, you should go for it, and don't worry about what your friends say. If driving to the studio is too far, try getting a book or a DVD with some ballet steps and exercises you can practice at home on your own.

Aw, fashion fever girl, I don't think you're a baby! And I bet your friends don't really think that, either. Did you honestly tell them how much it hurts your feelings when they make fun of you? If they're still mean even after that, you might want to tell your mom or teacher or another adult that you trust about how you're feeling. Grown-ups can sometimes help you figure out solutions you wouldn't have thought of on your own.
dear isabel, i just entered a new school. i went from the elementry school to the middle school. i got so scared. everybody there is so much bigger and it is hard to find my way around. i need some tips on how to fit in.
Going to a new school was hard for me, too. Good thing I found four awesome friends! But not everybody accepted me right away. My best tip is to just be yourself and be friendly to everyone. And as for finding your way around - ask for a map of the school! At home you can draw out all the ways you walk during the day.

Hola colorado cutie 17. It's so nice that you want to support your friend and her mom! Prob the best thing you can do right now is be there for your friend to listen to her worries. You could offer to help her out with stuff around her house, too, like cleaning her room or cooking dinner with her family. Mainly just let her know you're there for her, no matter what. That always makes me feel sooooo much better when I'm down about my mom!

Hola royce! It's mean of your friends to make fun of your drawings. Have you told them that it hurts your feelings? If you really love drawing, though, you should definitely stick with it. I wasn't a great artist when I first started, but I practiced a LOT and now I'm getting better. Don't let what other people think stop you from doing the stuff you love!
Dear Isabel, There are great horned owls in two HUGE pine trees next to my house. At night they hoot sometimes. P.S There are also snowy owls on the beach in the winter.

Being calm is totally a way of life for me. I like to step outside of the drama and look at the big picture. It usually puts things in perspective :-)

Totally! I just keep telling myself that many great artists had to go through a learning process before they painted their masterpieces. Even when I'm critical of my own work, the BSG are always there to support me!
I think you are fantanstic! But you REALLY broke my heart in book 3. After Maeve asks if a Quicnenra is like a Mitzvah, you reaply that all girls in Mexico do it, and it isn't religous. THAT ISN'T TRUE! In reality, it is a Catholic sacrement, and is a tradition carried out by Hispanic families when girls turn 15. Again, I think you are great, but I just had to point that out. I'm sure you were used to most girls having a Quince because most of Mexico is Roman Catholic, but as you know, America is a wonderfully diverse place with many cultures and customs. Shading is super difficult to get -- I feel like I don't always get it right, either! Talk to your art teacher after school. I bet she'll have some tips just for you.

I sometimes get stuck when I'm working on my art, too. One thing that helps me is taking a short break and doing something else, like taking a walk or reading or talking to my mama. Then when I come back to what I was doing, it's like I'm totally inspired all over again!
My little brother loves penguins! I have to say that my favorite animal is dolphins, espcially pink dolphins and suprisingly there is a such thing! Your drawings are AMAZING! You and all of the BSG are really inspiring!

Sure! My mama has MS, which stands for Multiple Sclerosis. It makes her tired a lot, and sometimes she gets really dizzy. But then other times she feels OK. I know that she's getting help from the very best doctors here in Boston, though, and that's what matters most to me!
