April 22nd is Earth Day! So, in honor of an entire day of celebrating how wonderful and amazing our planet is (and why we should all do our part to help preserve it), I have decided to try out some organic and Earth-friendly bath products. Many products on the shelves today contain ingredients that can be damaging to the Earth and are packaged in very Earth un-friendly plastic containers.
The first thing I learned is that many pure, Earth-friendly products say “organic” or “all-natural,” but sometimes, that’s not always the case. It’s not like these companies lie or anything, but “organic” and “all-natural” can mean different things to different people. So, before you buy, do a bit of research to see whether you are buying the real deal.
I researched a few Earth-friendly body/bath/makeup products, and here’s what I found out:
Beacon Street Girls: Yes! The Beacon Street Girls have their own line of lotions, body washes, and body sprays that contain all-natural ingredients like jojoba, shea butter, and aloe with oat and honey extracts. Plus, each of us has our own scents! Mine is Lime Twist; Avery’s is Fresh Blue; Charlotte’s is Violet Sky; Katani’s is Orange Flair; and Maeve’s is Pink Hearts! Check them out at bsgshop.com.
Body: Take a look at Aveda products, which range from all-natural hair gel to perfume. Aveda is so cool—not only do they offer many 100 percent organic lotions and potions, but they also package their products in paper and plastic made entirely of recycled materials.
Bath: Nature’s Gate brand offers organic hair care and body wash—plus deodorant, toothpaste, and sunscreen (SUPER important!). They use all-natural herbs, botanicals, and floral extracts in their products and also package them in recyclable materials. Try the chamomile and lemon-scented body wash—refreshing!
Make-up: Burt’s Bees has a ton of cool stuff, but I love their 100 percent natural lip glosses that contain grape seed and coconut oils and vitamin E. Plus, you can choose from yummy flavors like strawberry, raspberry, and lemon lime. Also, check out the Natural Origins Pressed Powder from Physician’s Formula Organic Wear line found at most drug stores. It’s sheer, good for your skin, and good for the environment. That’s a win-win-win situation!
