“April showers bring May flowers.” That’s one of Grandma Ruby’s favorite quotes. So, you can only imagine what showers bring to stylin’ girls like us -- muddy shoes and bad hair days!
A truly prepared fashionista has to be ready for anything, including a little rain on her parade here and there. (That’s one of my favorite quotes!) So here’s the official Kgirl list of ESSENTIAL pieces for rainy days. (I suggest keeping this list handy in the pocket of your raincoat!)
Rain boots: You can get them in all sorts of fun colors and prints. I like to wear them on the outside of my pants—very chic. Do remember to bring along other shoes to change into if you’re going to be inside for awhile, unless you want to leave a trail of wet footprints! And always look for rain boots that are rubber on the outside with a fabric lining on the inside. That keeps your feet toasty warm and away from the water.
(Fun fashion fact: Charlotte says that in Australia rain boots are called “gumboots”!)
Raincoat: This piece is key, and you can really have a lot of fun with it. First, make sure to choose a coat made of water-repellant or water-resistant fabric. Of course yellow (my favorite color!) is classic, but I also love raincoats in all sorts of bright colors: red, blue, or even purple-orange flowers!
Umbrella: Here’s where you can truly make a personal statement with your rain gear. My umbrella is bright yellow with zebra stripes—soooo Kgirl, right? Choose an umbrella in a fun print that reflects who YOU are. And to make sure your fashion statement lasts, take care of your umbrella by leaving it open to dry instead of closing it up all wet.
I can’t wait to see you singin’ in the rain!
