Trick or treat? That’s right, fashionistas-in-training—Halloween is right around the corner. And you know what that means: time to let your fashion creativity out of the box!
At school, all I can hear in the halls of Abigail Adams are costume plans. Dillon Johnson has his Red Sox player costume all planned out. Anna McMasters is going as a celebrity heiress, and Isabel is dressing up as her favorite artist, Frida Kahlo. No surprise here—Maeve is going as the beautiful and glamorous Audrey Hepburn, and Avery is going as soccer star Mia Hamm!
Today, Halloween is all about candy and costumes, but it hasn’t always been that way. In fact, some people can trace the origins of Halloween back thousands of years! But, many people believe the REAL story of trick-or-treating and Halloween as we know it today originated in Anoka, Minnesota, in 1920.
Halloween was already a holiday that the people of Anoka celebrated, but instead of going from house to house in costumes, kids would pull pranks on all the neighbors on Halloween night!
Fed up (wouldn’t you be?), the townspeople decided to organize a big costume parade to keep the kids out of trouble Halloween night. So, together with local marching bands and community groups, the parade was held with thousands of kids participating and hundreds of bags of popcorn, peanuts, candy, and other kinds of treats being given away.
So, many people think “trick or treating” came from this celebration—if the kids weren’t given treats, then they would play tricks on you! The tradition of giving treats to children on Halloween night spread, and the rest is history.

My Halloween costume idea is to dress up as an ipod. You would draw an aipod on a plain white shirt and wear ear buds in your ears, I thought this would be a good and fun idea because I have never seen anyone else wear it!

Hey Kgirl!
For Halloween this year, I want to be a hairspray girl- kind of like a girl from the 50's.
I really hope my costume turns out the way i drew it, cause that'd be soooo cool. . .
I'm asking my grammy about clothes, and as for hair?
BIG!!!!!!

Dear Katani,
This Halloween I am planning on being Hannah Montana. I am going to get a blonde Hannah Montana wig at Claire's or Limited Too. Then, I have the same yellow and black plaid skirt that Miley Cyrus wears at her concerts. I am going to wear that with white leggings or I might buy some other colorful striped leggings. Then I will wear my Hannah Montana t-shirt that I got at Limited Too. Or if I'm not that, me and my best friends are going to be the Beacon Street Girls! I would be Maeve because I have red hair, my friend Casey is short so she would be Avery. My friend Cassandra would be Isabel because she has a little tanner skin. My friend Sam would be Katani because she's tall. Then, Charlotte, would be my friend Emma because she wears glasses.

My costume would be a chef with a white hat, pans and pots hooked to my apron, and flour on my apron and cheeks! Hope you like it!

Dear Kgirl,
My really creative costume would be a half angel half devil! You can buy (or make) a white dress and a red dress and cut both down the middle then sew one half of each color together. Put on some wings and some horns and the costume is complete! Don't worry if people ask, "What are YOU!?!?" Take as a complement.

Since I am going to Florida for Halloween, I am going to dress up as a tourist! I will wear a weird hat, a t shirt that says FLORIDA and I’ll be carrying a map.
Also, instead of saying Trick or Treat! I’m going to say where’s Florida? I can’t find it anywhere!

I read a bunch of books(the beacon street girls included) and decided on a costume. MARTY!!!!! I'm so excited. I got face paint to wear to look like a dog, and then some grey dog ears. Then im going to wear paw like gloves and slippers, and sweat pant and a grey shirt! Hey K-girl,
My costume last year was a mermaid. I wore a white top with a bikini top over it, then I made a skirt out of green, silky/shiny material. The I attached two fins, mad out of foam, covered in the fabric, also. I then put two fishing wire strings around my wrists to the fins. This was to make it look like my fins were moving when I was talking. I loved this costume!

Dear Katani,
My friend, her sister and I are doing a costume together. A while back when there family had dinner over our house, the told us about their new “egg mc. Muffin maker” it’s a toaster with a mini frying pan on the side to make the egg! Somehow, the idea came to mind that me, my friend, and her sister would be an egg mc muffin!!! I’m going to be the english muffin, my friend, the egg on a frying pan and her sister, the spatula!
Hope you liked it!

Hey Katani!
This is Shea from Massachusetts! I read all of ur books and I like you BSG a lot! My halloween costume is a fork. My friends are being spoons and knives. We made hem out of cardboard and we spraypainted them silver. On the back we make up a company name and wrote it in big letters and a quote from the fake company that says "One of a kind!". Thats my halloween costume!

hey kgrl :)
it's danielle, a HUGE bsg fan...im writing about my totally awesome halloween costume(s). well, a couple of years ago i was morticia from the addam's family. it was SOOO cool =D i had 2 paint my face pale white (not real paint, it was make-up) but i looked very scary. also, i applied cherry red lipstik and wore long, dark, blak dresses and tights 2 look dead-ish, which isn't a word but describes it perfectly ;] plus i blew my hair out 2 look as pretty as morticia does, and i was all set =) this year im not EXACTLY sure wat im going 2 be....i think i mite be a mime. it's simple enuff: blak hat, blak pants//shirt, red lipstik, pale face....but maybe that's 2 SIMPLE. still, it would be a gr8 challenge trying not 2 talk all nite :] hehe--maybe i'll give it a shot!!! (:

My idea for halloween is to be a queen of hearts. Here is a description of the costume:
You would have your body cut out of a piece of cardboard. The card board would be painted white and would have 2 Q's on it and 1 heart below each Q. You would wear a white t-shirt and have white pants on. On the pants and shirt there would be a painted or drawn on queen. The last touch is that you would be wearing a crown.
