When Friends and Sibs Collide

Hey girls!

My older sister Kelley is really special to me. She is one of the funniest and most honest people I know, no question. But, Kelley has autism, so it’s harder for her to know when the BSG and I need some quality BFF time and leave us alone.

It’s part of who she is, and I wouldn’t change her for the world, but sometimes she can be sooo frustrating! And you know what? Autism isn’t fully to blame—I bet tons of girls out there have siblings who like to be included in private friend stuff. I mean, I’m glad Kelley likes my friends, but they’re MY friends. Sometimes, I just want to be with them on my own, without my sister following us around.

And then I have the opposite problem with my other sister, Patrice. She’s in high school, and she sometimes acts like she OWNS our house. Like she’ll come into the room where the BSG and I are chilling and totally kick us out! Hey, other people live here too, Miss High School Attitude.

So what’s the Kgirl solution? Let it go, and then talk it out. It’s not easy, but when Kelley or Patrice make me really annoyed while my friends are around, I try to just let it go for the moment and talk to them about it later, in private. That way nobody’s feelings get hurt.

I wrote up a contract. My little sister signed thet she would not bug me w/ friends over, I signed I'd let her hang out with my friends sometimes, and my mom signed, that she would make my lil sis quite playing with me if she had been playing too long. It has been working so far.

Wow. Ask your mom if someway you can tell her to turn off the computer for a period of time. I dont know why he starts screaming. Well, he takes his anger out on other people. Dont let it get to you. if ur lil sis bro destroys private stuff (diary, library books, jewlery, makeup, clothes, etc.) try giving him/her something like that to play w/. Diary-old notebook that u dont use. books-old book u dont read no more. jewlery- old ring/necklace/etc. that u dont like. makeup- some stuff like lipgloss that he could put on (ur mom will probably take it away and giv it back 2 u n e ways) clothes- old t that dusnt fit no more. well i guess u get the point...

If you have a sibling that is autistic or has some kind of disease or something, don't be embaressed about him/her when your friends come over. She/he's who he/she is and no on would eeeeeeever want to change that. Your friends should understand that you love him/her and that they should NOT tease him/her. I bet he/she would do ANYTHING to be like you guys. He/she is your sister/brother and people should like him/her the way he/she is.

coco kisses- whatev u do, don't tell your parents. your sis may do it even more if you tell. Your friends should understand about the phone thing. try talking to your sis. Or, if that doesn't work, write a letter to your parents explaining the situation, and talk to them about it privately. As for taking stuff from your room, she should act more mature. If she IS older than you, she should go work at BK (burger king 4 those who don't know) so she could by the stuff you have instead of stealing yours. Just remember; she's your sister so she loves you no matter what happens... trust me. HOPE THIS HELPS!!!!

people heres my advice: if you have a little sibling that always wants to hang with you, he/she may be jealous of you. If you play with your friends a lot, he/she might think that you like them more than him/her. Try making time for him/her every day, and he/she may feel better about your friends. i know it sounds cheesy, but it really works!

I have a little brother, and he follows me EVERYWHERE when I have friends over. Before I got annoyed and always yelled for my mom to get him away, but then I realized that my friends had brothers and sisters too, so they understood. Even my one friend, who's an only child, sort of knew what I was going through. And I also knew that my little brother loved me. He just didn't know how to show it.

One thing i deal with my siblings is that i always cover my ears and say bala bala bala and sometimes we start a fight and guess who wins me moi wins and that's how i deal with siblings.Also sometimes i cry.

i'm 2 years older than my sister. everytime i have a friend over she tries to act really cool, but it always looks as if she is hyperactive or something. my friends think she is cute, but she really gets on my nerves and is sometimes really embarassing (for example tells stories about me i'd rather no one knew). at most occasions i just signalise to her that i want to be alone. sometimes she is mad at me for that, but i can't help it. i have friends over hardly ever and if i have them over i want them for me and not for my sister!

My little brother always wants to play when I have my friends over. I want to have time with my friends alone, but i don't want him to feel left out. Here are two things I've found that work:
1. Do somthing fun with him or her before or after your friend comes. Plan a fun activity, and then follow through!
2. Play a game or include an activity with your friend that your sibling could join in on.

I am the middle child. Exept my oldest sister is actully my half sister. It's a little bit annoying when my littlest sister, (6), gets into a fuss. Actully thats putting it mildly. When she starts reading my IM messages, I ask her to stop, explain it's private, and if all else fails, tell my mom. If she starts being annoying around my friends I ask her to get out of my room and promise to play with her later.

She does this to all of my friends and even though they're always younger then her she still needs to be with them. My older siblings are 24 and 22 and I am 10 and I don't have to worry about them. My 24 yr. old sister lives in CA with her boyfriend and my 22 yr. old brother is in the army and is flying back. okay well a sibling is always trouble exspecial th young ones if u play with her and spend time with her she will soon get tired of it and leave you alone when you company is over.

Another thing you can do is take her to a place where she can meet friends and then when you have friends over you can invite one of her friends over so she would play with them while you and your BFF(bff jills)hang out or do what ever.

Hey girl! Maybe you can get your mom or dad to help you figure out a time that you can be on your own - like, from 5:00-5:30 everyday, your brother isn't allowed to come in your room. That would give you some time to chill and get ready to deal with him again!

I have 2 little sisters. (They're twins) I love them so much. But sometimes they get on my last nerve! Whenever I have a friend over my sisters are all over them. It's totally OK to not have a loooooong list of friends - what matters is that you have GOOD friends. If you like your friends, and they like you, then who cares what your sister says? YOU know you have awesome BFFs.

My sis lost her cell phone because of her grades. The promblem is she keeps taking the card out of mine and using her friends old phone! My parents know about it and they are trying to stop it but they can't! She finds my phone everywhere I hide it! I've even tried hiding it under my matress! Hey Hollywood24. You need to have a conversation with your parents about what's going on, pronto. I know they already know some of what your sis is doing, so maybe you could ask your whole family to get together for a family meeting to talk about it. This is a prob for your parents to handle, not you.

Yikes! I think you and your parents need to have what my dad calls a Family Meeting. But, if you feel like your sister is going to deny everything you say, ask if you can meet in your room without your sister. Maybe even do it when she's not home. Explain to your parents what's happening, and do it because you want to fix your relationship with your sister -- not because you want to get her in trouble.

I think a LOT of girls have this problem. I feel like younger sibs don't really get the idea of privacy, so it's important to be sensitive to their feelings. I'd say maybe play with your brother BEFORE your friends come over and explain to him that it's bro/sis time now, but when your friends come over, it's BFF time. Talk to your parents, too. They might be able to help distract your brother so that he doesn't feel like his only option is to hang out with the girls.
