WIN one of five copies of Katani's Jamaican Holiday autographed by Sean Kingston! Sean Kingston LOVES his fans—and he proved it at a recent concert in Boston hosted by KISS 108 FM. A few cancelled transcontinental flights from Los Angeles caused this 18-year-old Jamaican star to rush like crazy to the stage for his performance, which was scheduled to follow artists like Jesse McCartney, the Jonas Brothers, Leona Lewis, and Sara Bareilles. But, Sean wasn’t about to let his fans down. When he got up to perform, Sean had nearly 20,000 fans in the audience up off their seats, singing along, and dancing in the aisles! Sean started off with his hit single Me Love, which captures that cool, reggae-pop sound we love! Next was There’s Nothing, followed by Take You There, and finally—the song that DEFINIED last summer—Beautiful Girls. Sean even hopped off the stage to perform right next to fans in the front rows! But, the best part was when he suddenly stopped right in the middle of a song and invited everyone—ALL the fans—down to the front to join the party! Check out what Sean had to say when he sat down with Club BSG! Club BSG: Hey Sean! Our first question is from MAGENTA486: What do you like best about the beautiful island of Jamaica? Sean: The food, the beaches, the girls, the people—the people there are kind and down-to-earth. There is nothing like relaxing on the beaches of Jamaica Club BSG: I bet the food is AH-mazing. Speaking of food, WORLDWIDERISINGSTAR asks: What foods remind you of your family at home? Sean: Oh, Jamaican food—oxtail and jerk chicken. Club BSG: Mmm! Can you get good oxtail and jerk chicken in the US, or do you have to get it in Jamaica? Sean: Nothing beats the oxtail and jerk chicken in Jamaica, but Miami comes in a close second. On my off days (which are extremely rare) my Mom cooks great Jamaican food for me at home. Club BSG: OK, so our next question is from AMATOMBOY29: Where do you get your songs from? Are they inspired by real life? Sean: All life experiences influence my songs. Club BSG: You’ve inspired a lot of people with your music, so E4EVER wants to know, do you have any tips for songwriters? Sean: Be original. It’s best because the real feeling comes out when your stuff comes from experiences in life. Try to keep it real. Club BSG: Great advice—thanks! Our next question is from AWESOMEJ9: Who are your role models, and how do they influence your songs? Sean: My role models are Jay-Z, Biggie, Lauryn Hill, Bob Marley, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson. I just feel like by me watching them—watching all their stuff, like how they perform, how they do their interviews—it makes me a better artist. Club BSG: Your home is an island very far from Boston, so BOUNCYBUBBLE asks: Do you try to make time for your family, and does it sometimes get hard? Sean: I try to be there for my family whenever I can. It definitely gets hard because I’m always busy and stuff. But, every time I get a chance to go home, I appreciate it because my family is the first thing in my life. They’ve always been there behind me. Club BSG: You are so right—family is super important. The next question was submitted by WAPANINA: Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Sean: Still making great music, having my own clothing line, and my own line of watches. Also, building the official record label I started called Time is Money Entertainment. Club BSG: Wow! It’s so cool that you have your own label! Your sound is super-unique, so ABZ wants to know: Do you only like the type of music you sing, or do you have other favorite types? Sean: I have a lot of favorite types. I like all types of genres—rock, like Fall Out Boy, U2, and Linkin Park. I also like Akon, Jay-Z, and reggae. Club BSG: Who is your favorite reggae star? Sean: Right now, I like an artist called Movado. Club BSG: Cool! Here’s a question from TERMIKA: What are your goals as an artist? Sean: Just longevity—you know, to be in the game a long time. I want to make Sean Kingston a brand, not just a couple of songs on the radio. My goal is to build up my career like some of the other artists who just came out on the scene. Club BSG: You are crazy-busy these days, so MANNI12345 asked: What do you like to do in your spare time? Sean: I like to ride my four-wheelers. I like to go to the mall, hang out with my friends, go to the beach, play PS3, chill, have fun, and just enjoy life. Club BSG: How does it feel to be in Beacon Street Girls Special Adventure, Katani's Jamaican Holiday? Sean: is an honor to be recognized in the BSG book. A lot of my fans are young girls and it is important that they have good influences. Katani is a great example of that, and I am very excited to be a part of her story. Club BSG: Thanks, Sean!
