The Cheetah Girls are super fabulous! You might know them as
Chanel, Aqua, and Dorinda, their characters from the Cheetah Girls movies on
the Disney Channel. But, these ultra-talented singers/dancers/actresses record
albums and put on concerts as their REAL selves: Adrienne Bailon (who plays
Chanel), Kiely Williams (who plays Aqua), and Sabrina Bryan (who plays
Dorinda). See how these cool cats are as Cheetah-licious as ever!
Maeve Kaplan-Taylor: I've been reading about so many new
Cheetah Girls projects--the new album, the new movie, the tour--what's a typical
day like for the three of you?
Sabrina: A working day starts pretty early and we go
straight into hair and make up. We love our glam squad and we have so much fun
listening to the music and catching up. Then we have the photo shoot, filming
or studio session which means we're goofing around. When work is done we pick
up dinner and go home and watch movies :)
MKT: Sounds like so much fun! Tell me a little about the
inspiration for your new album, TCG.
Sabrina: The new album is a dedication to our fans.
And our inspiration came from the experiences we've had together. This is
the first time our fans are able to get to know us aside from our characters in
the movies. Giving them an inside look at us as Sabrina, Kiely, and Adrienne.
MKT: Oooh! I can’t wait to hear it! What can you reveal
about the story set to be filmed in India for Cheetah Girls: One World?
Sabrina: Kiely has a romance and we're going to be a part of
a Bollywood (Indian musical) movie.
MKT: Wow – exotic places – you girls are lucky! You all seem
ultra-tight with one another. What is your favorite thing to do together when
you're not working?
Adrienne: The girls and I love to go on vacation! We
love getting our nails done or sometimes just laying around watching movies,
laughing and talking.
MKT: Oh, I would totally fit in with you girls. I can sing
and dance, too! Wait, I have school. Never mind! What kind of Cheetah-licious
message do you aim to send out to girls through the movies, books, and music?
Adrienne: It’s all about girl empowerment! We want girls to
feel proud of who they are! We also want to break racial barriers and let girls
come together and respect each others differences and learn from them.
MKT: I love the Cheetah Girls movies, and I think many girls know
you as Aqua, Chanel, and Dorinda—what do you want them to know about Kiely,
Adrienne, and Sabrina?
Kiely: I think our biggest goal for this album was to show
who we really are. Coming from a movie, sometimes it is hard for people to
separate us from our characters. This album lets them in on what we care about,
our dreams, and even fears.
MKT: I almost forgot – Sabrina, happy birthday! Tell us a
little about
BYOU 2. Also, congrats on
Dancing
with the Stars! How can BSG fans help you get to the finals?
Sabrina: Thank you so much!!!!
BYOU 2 is in the works, I'm
not sure about the specifics yet but we learned so much with the first one and
got a lot of feedback from the fans!! The BSG fans can tune in to
Dancing With
the Stars every Monday and VOTE for me!!! I know what will take me to the
finals are the fans, because we are so lucky to have the best fans in the
world!! They support us so much and I can't thank them enough for it!! I
promise to give a great performance every week for as long as they keep me in!!
MKT: Good luck with everything! Kiely—what are your
must-have beauty products? What do you like to do to stay healthy and fit?
Kiely: I absolutely cannot live without Lip Fusion lip gloss
and Lash Injection mascara! I think the most beautiful thing a girl can be is
confident. When you feel good on the inside you shine on the outside!
MKT: The BSG totally believe that, too. Adrienne -- if girls
are interested in singing professionally, how should they start? What's the
most important lesson you've learned in show business?
Adrienne: I always say... put yourself out there!
People are always looking for new talent! And practice! Practice makes perfect.
Be prepared for when a great opportunity comes along. The most important lesson
I've learned is to treat people with respect and they will do the same.
Especially in industry that is ego driven its important to stay level headed.
MKT: I am DEFINITELY taking your advice. Until I can become a
REAL member of the group, how can the BSG help out the Cheetah Girls?!
Kiely: You can help support the Cheetahs by checking out our
album
TCG on September 25, 2007, and go to our myspace page and leave us comments on
what you think of the new album!
