Get to Know Your Crush!

Hi girls!

You know, sometimes I wish I were in the movies. Well, actually, I wish that ALL the time! But, I find myself especially jealous of those girls in Hollywoodland who get PUSHED together with a cute boy by outside forces. Like, Gabriella and Troy when they sang Karaoke. It ALWAYS works out that the boy ends up liking the girl and the girl ends up liking the guy, and everyone’s happy.

But, what if you and your crush AREN’T pushed together… ever? Like, you’re not in the same class, you don’t have the same friends, and you feel like you’re just meant to stare at him from afar… oh, so romantic!

Romantic, but frustrating. So, how DO you get to know your crush when it seems like the forces of nature are keeping you APART? Read on for my secrets.

Use your resources. If your crush is in your friend’s class (lucky!), talk to her about casually dropping your name in here and there. Like, “Hey, that was a great story you read today in class. My friend Charlotte is a really good writer, too.” Or, if he plays on your brother’s soccer team, go to the games and say “hi” or “good game”—not too hard, right?

Focus on his strengths. If you are talking to your crush casually from time to time and need another excuse to talk to him, think about his strengths and what he’s into. Like, if he’s really into music, you could ask him to recommend which Rolling Stones CD is the best to get for your dad or something. Also, everyone likes to talk about stuff that they’re good at. Bring up a sport he likes or ask him a question about something he knows a LOT about. Chances are, he won’t give you a one-word answer!

Be BOLD. No, really, you gotta be bold sometimes when there are no forces of nature pushing you and your crush together. You have to make it happen for yourself! Yeah, you can have your BFF talk to his friend, but that route can take AGES for anything to happen. Sometimes, you just gotta go up to him, smile, and say “hi!” It shows confidence and friendliness—which are GREAT qualities to have. And, it’s not like you have to single him out, either. Say hey-what’s-up to all his friends, or challenge his group of guys to a soccer match against your group of girls. Sometimes things seem a lot easier when you have your girls behind you!

Crushing from afar might seem impossible, but there ARE ways to get to know your crush when you’re not already in the same group of friends, or neighbors, or picked to sing Karaoke together. i have a crush on **. we starred in hsm togather (i was gabbriella and he was troy.) i consider myself lucky. we got to kiss and sing romanticky duets. everyday was my favorite. he twirled me around in that numger, and throughout the whole thing i couldnt stop smiling. i didnt even trip in my high espadrilles. usually, i might've stumbled!!! anyway we really got into our roles. we both have grate voices. i guess we preform our caricters as well as we did is because ours is kinda like a hsm story too. shy sweet smart girl (me) falls for king of cool boy (**) and they end up liking eachother because thet have fun around eachother and be themselves around eachother and escape the typical sterotypes we were labeled into. i loved everyday because my dress was almost identical to gabbriellas in the movie and i looked really pretty. because we got our friends whistling and the audience clapping and our friends cheering us on. we came from 2 different worlds, but here on the stage, we knew who we were, and we weren't afraid to be that person. with each others help, we had found the right way. we had our real kiss after the play, on the front lawn. it was a little embarrassing and awkward because all his friends were there and chanting "KISS her. KISS her." and everyone cheered when he did. trying to mimic the movie, someone turned on the flagpole sprinklers. as for me, i barely felt them. they were softly beating into the sky and falling on to us, but i didnt care.

scince then we hang out by ourselves or with friends. we aren't like super romanically serious, but he is my boyfriend, i guess. sure we hold habds in the hallway and walk to classes togather, i just hope some ppl dont get the wrong pic.he took me to the school fair and a lot of school dances. we hang out, eat at the nearby pizza place (he likes hawaiian. gross.)do kereoke, go to movies and talk on the phone, but we dont talk about like, love or anything. he is just a special friend i hang out with and sorta date, and im ok with that

Hi wishuponastarr! I didn't see your post earlier, so I hope you see this since its sooooo much later than u asked. So, one guy is really cute but u have a friend who's really nice. hard hard hard! okay, so ** asked me out.I told him Id think about it.My dad told me twards the end of july we are moving to Flordia.** asked me to the spring dance, and its on Friday.It will be hard if I have to turn him down because he already bought me a ticket.I talked to my bf ** and she said just to tell him Im moving to Flordia but still go to the dance with him.I think its an okay plan but I dont really know if it will work.because its like I walk up to him and say I will go to the dance with you but I am moving to Flordia in July so on the last day of school I will have to dump you.

Some ways to see if he likes you, or more ways that might help him to like you are, if you pass him in the hall, try and make eye contact with him, this might be awkward but if he just happens to look at you smile and try not look away if he holds his gaze. This might start to get him to like you because he'll probably think that you like him, and after awhile, he might think about it, and start liking you.

it worked for me!! i had my first boyfriend in fith grade. he asked me out after i talk to him and showed him how to be a good friend. and even if this does not work you'll still be his bud. so it all works out. good luck with your problem and i hope you and that boy go out and are happy togther. let me know how it goes!!!!!

i can totally sympathize with you. i have this one "sort of friend" that has stolen my crush five different times from me!!!!!! i personally just kind of keep her at an arms length. like friends, but not close. if you feel like there could still be some friendship there you should give her a second chance. just be aware of what you tell her before she earns back your trust. you DO NOT want it to happen again, believe me.

He was about to ask me out before we went on stage for our play, but then a little 5th grader and came and hugged me but then she did the most annoying thing! she told him "she likes u!" 	I think what you should do is just be yourself! It may seem hard, but once you get used it, it usually turns out well. And if you are yourself and your crush thinks you're an complete weirdo and , maybe he's just not the right one for you. Move on and find someone who will take you for who you are and not what you look like or how you act. Those are the rules I like to go by.
