Time’s Up, New Beacon Street Girls Book Helps Overwhelmed Kids

Time’s Up, New Beacon Street Girls Book Helps Overwhelmed Kids

--Today’s Girls are Increasingly Over-scheduled and Doing Too Much   --

Lexington, MA (June 4, 2008) — Today B*tween Productions Inc., home of the Beacon Street Girls, announced the release of the twelfth book in its popular tween series.  The latest book is called Time’s Up and is among the first Beacon Street Girls (BSG) books to be released in partnership with Simon & Schuster’s Aladdin M!X tween imprint.

In Time’s Up, Katani is trying to get time to enter a Young Entrepreneur contest but she needs to find the time to pull together all the pieces of her entry. Meanwhile, secrets and stress strain the BSG bond as teachers pile on the work and things heat up on the basketball court in one crazy, time-crunched week. Can the girls deal with the pressure?

“Today’s girls are under incredible pressure to be everything to everybody,” said Addie Swartz, CEO of B*tween Productions. “The expectations are very high – be smart, be athletic, be outgoing and articulate, be beautiful.  And, as they try to do it all, it’s very easy for girls to get overcommitted.  The Beacon Street Girls characters aren’t impossibly perfect.  They make mistakes and in Time’s Up, our characters learn to recognize when they are trying to do too much.  Our books allow us to show girls that it is ‘OK’ to ask for help.”

Time’s Up is available immediately wherever books are sold ($6.99, (ISBN-13: 978-1-4169-6422-3.)

The Beacon Street Girls Special books provide preteen girls with positive media and strong role models.  The characters demonstrate appropriate behaviors and address issues preteen girls struggle with.  B*tween works with a variety of world-renowned childhood development experts on how to best present the ideas and girl-centric issues embedded in each of the books.

In addition to the classic Beacon Street Girls series, there is also a series of Beacon Street Girls Special Adventure books which focus on one particular character, sending that character off on an adventure that is meaningful to her and her fans.  The Adventure books allow BSG fans to know even more about the individual characters that appear in the book series and Website.  Girls love to read about the “just like me” characters and parents appreciate the age-appropriate content with positive values.

In addition to Time’s Up, B*tween Productions Inc. and Simon & Schuster is also releasing Katani’s Jamaican Holiday ($6.99, ISBN-13: 978-1-4169-6443-8).  At this time, the companies will also be re-releasing books 1-4 in the series with a new look for the characters.   There are 16 Beacon Street Girls books, 12 in the popular series and four Special Adventures, featuring one of the characters.
