BSG Young Authors Contest

 

OFFICIAL RULES & REGULATIONS

 

NO ENTRY FEE. NO PURCHASE OR OBLIGATION NECESSARY TO PLAY OR WIN. MANY WILL ENTER; FEW WILL WIN.

1. Eligibility: The BSG Young Authors Contest is open to individuals age 18 or younger. Employees of sponsor and affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising, promotion, and fulfillment agencies, immediate family members and persons living in the household are not eligible to participate in the Contest. Participation in the Contest constitutes entrant's full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Rules & Regulations. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.

2. To enter without obligation: You may enter the Contest by mailing or faxing up to three story endings along with the BSG Young Author′s Contest Entry Form to:

Entries must be postmarked no later than April 3, 2009. Use of robotic, automatic, programmed or the like entry methods will void all such entries by such methods. Only three entries per person, household, and/or email address are permitted. Contest entrants submitting more than three stories will only be considered based on the first three stories and no more.

 

3. Complete submissions must include a fictional story ending (no more than 600 words) that follows and completes the story Orangina′s Travels, as posted on the Beacon Street Girls′ web site, and a complete, filled out BSG Young Authors Contest Entry Form.

 

4. Judging and awarding of prizes: Odds of winning depend on the number of entries received. Many will enter; few will win. All Contest entries meeting the requirements of these Official Rules and Regulations will be evaluated upon the following criteria: 25% creative writing skill, 25% effort, 25% originality, and 25% appropriate voice and style for the BSG series. Stories will be judged by B*tween Productions staff on or around April 10, 2009, at B*tween's offices. Selections are final and binding.  One (1) winner plus five (5) runners-up will be chosen among all entries. Parents of the winner and runners-up will be notified by email.

 

 

5. Prizes: One (1) winner will have her Story published in Book 16 of the BSG series (forthcoming in fall 2009) in the Book Extras along with her first and last name and age. The winner may be asked to provide additional information such as a short bio or photo. The first name only, age, state, and country of the winner and runners-up will be posted on the Beacon Street Girls′ web site. The five runners up will each receive two (2) books from the BSG series. By entering, the participant consents for his/her story to be considered for publication on the Web site.

 

6. Notification of Winners: The parents of the winner and runners-up will be notified by email within five (5) business days of the prize awarding. If a selected winner cannot be contacted, is ineligible, fails to claim a prize, and/or where applicable an affidavit of eligibility and publicity/liability release is not received in a timely manner or is incomplete or modified, the prize will be forfeited. In the event of a dispute regarding who submitted an entry, the entry will be deemed submitted by the person whose name and address is specified in the entry.

7. General Rules: By entering, you agree to be bound by these Official Rules & Regulations and affirm that your Story is your own original work. The Contest is offered by the sponsor, which is B*tween Productions, Inc., home of the Beacon Street Girls. All submissions become the property of B*tween Productions, Inc. Sponsor is not responsible for late, lost, delayed, damaged, postage-due, incomplete, illegible, or misdirected entries, responses, or other correspondence, whether by e-mail or postal mail or otherwise, or for theft or destruction or unauthorized access or alterations of entry materials, phone, electrical, network, computer, hardware, software program or transmission malfunctions, failures or difficulties. By participating and winning a prize, a winner releases Sponsor, its parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, directors, officers, employees, sponsors, and agents, including advertising and promotion agencies, from any and all liability with respect to the Contest or the acceptance, possession or use of any prize, including without limitation (i) any condition caused by events beyond Sponsor′s control that may cause the Contest to be disrupted or corrupted; (ii) any injuries, losses, or damages (compensatory, direct, incidental, consequential or otherwise) of any kind arising in connection with or as a result of the prize, or acceptance, possession, or use of the prize, or from participation in the Contest; and (iii) any printing or typographical errors in any materials associated with the Contest. Sponsor′s decisions in all respects relative to the Contest are final. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, modify or suspend the Contest in whole or in part, in the event of fraud, technical or other difficulties or if the integrity of the Contest is compromised, without liability to the entrant. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any winner, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. Void where prohibited or restricted by law. All federal, state, provincial and local regulations apply.


8: Additional Conditions: Except where prohibited, by accepting any prize, the winner consents to the use of her/his name, photo and/or likeness, biographical information, winning entry and statements attributed to the winner (if true) for advertising and promotional purposes without additional compensation. All entries become property of the Sponsor, and none will be acknowledged or returned. We do not keep any materials longer than necessary to evaluate entries. You are responsible for keeping your own backup copies of any entries.

 

By entering a Story ending into the Contest, participant hereby agrees to comply with the terms and conditions stated herein and irrevocably grants to the Sponsor the worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, unconditional, perpetual and transferable license and right to reproduce, encode, store, modify, copy, transmit, publish, post, broadcast, display, publicly perform, adapt, exhibit and otherwise use or reuse, the participant's Story, in whole or in part, as well as participant's name, throughout the universe, in any and all media, now known or hereafter devised, alone or as part of other material of any kind or nature. Without limiting the foregoing, the Sponsor shall have the right to use and edit the Story in any manner that Sponsors may determine.

Participant irrevocably grants to the Sponsor and its affiliates, legal representatives, assigns, agents and licensees, the worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, sublicensable, unconditional, perpetual and transferable right and license to use the Story for advertising, promotional or commercial purposes.

Participant forever waives any rights of privacy, intellectual property rights and any other legal or moral rights that may preclude the Sponsor′s use of the participant′s Story or require participant′s permission for the Sponsor to use the Story for promotional purposes and agrees to never sue or assert any claim against the Sponsor′s use of the Story.

Participant acknowledges and agrees that (a) the Sponsor has access to and/or may create or have created literary, film, tape and/or other materials, ideas and concepts which may be similar or identical to the Story in theme, idea, plot, format, characters and/or other respects; (b) the participant will not be entitled to any compensation or other consideration because of use by the Sponsor of any such similar or identical material, ideas and/or concepts; and (c) the Sponsor′s use of material containing elements similar or identical to those contained in the Story shall not obligate the Sponsor to negotiate with nor entitle participant to any compensation or other claim.
